The Pony Factory

The Pony Factory isn't a very scary game. I was intrigued by the game due to it having some FPS elements and being a fan of the genre, however the FPS element in this game is about as fleshed out as the horror and the only thing that scared me was turning a corner expecting an enemy only for there not to be one. The story notes dotted around the levels are too long to care to read and for a game I beat in 20 minutes I'm glad I didn't spend more time on them. So maybe I missed out and The Pony Factory is hiding a secret masterpiece of human creativity beneath the lore notes, though I struggle to believe that considering the weapon they give you in the game might as well shoot toenail clippings at the enemies with how little damage it does. That being said if the gun did do more damage the game would only be 15 minutes instead of 20. The gameplay loop is incredibly simple, you walk through levels and there are horse people in each new room that you have to shoot, you shoot them and then you need to find some ammo which are usually also in every other room. This game is more of an ammo collector than a horror game, this game made me consider ammo more than resident evil games. This game isn't complete trash though, I'm sure it scared some people or that others liked it more than I did but it just feels like the two developers couldn't come to an agreement on whether to make a horror game or a boomer shooter and just kind of mashed them together in some sort of half-arsed forbidden meal.
