About
The untamed wilderness of Alaska is beautiful, cold, and unforgiving. As a high-profile fugitive on the run, this desolate landscape is your only hiding spot, with your dog as your sole companion. But in these woods, the peaceful silence is a lie. The environment is not just your hideaway—it is the hunting ground for something that belongs here more than you do.
"The Pale Mimic" is not an infinite survival game; it is a linear, narrative-driven horror experience with a definitive beginning and end.
Your cabin is your only refuge, but safety is an illusion. On most days the core of your existence is hunting large game just to survive a little longer, with only brief respite at the cabin to plan your next move. On other days, the forest will have unexpected surprises for you.
When outside, the hunt begins.
When food runs low, you must venture into the frozen forests, where your dog is your guide and key to tracking anything. What starts as a simple hunt for game quickly turns into a struggle for survival. You will track, kill, and butcher large game, but this process is far from easy. As you stalk your prey, something is watching. Keep your wits about you, lest the hunter become the hunted.
You must bring the meat back to survive, but the creature is waiting for you to turn your back on the woods. It is fast, strong, and relies on a terrifying form of mimicry to lure you out. As a stalker, it prefers to avoid direct confrontation. It might mimic your dog’s whine to make you open the door, the sound of prey to trick you, or a familiar voice to lure you into a trap. Out here in the middle of nowhere, imitation is the highest form of horror.

I love everything about the game except for how point to point it is. I'm happy with the concept of going out to hunt on a routine, I just wish that routine wasn't as strict as: Follow the Dog, Shoot the Animal, Follow the Map Home. Sometimes the story scripts a monster attack. If this idea is ever visited again and I really hope it is, these are the simple changes I would make: - Scatter animals of varying properties all over the map and let the player search for them unguided. - Make the dog react whenever you are close to something. - Have the player determine whether what you're approaching is real or not. - Allow the mimic to sneak up to you unprompted on occasion. Maybe even allow the dog to scout farther around you so the player has to guess sounds more. - Then maybe keep the weekly deliveries for restocking ammo. It could force the player to be more careful with how they spend ammo. Perhaps even include some rare landmarks to find extra bullets in. Basically, I want this game to put ME in charge instead of the story. I like the story, the premise is very well thought out but I want proper game mechanics first.

A really cool short horror game. What even more fascinating, is that it was made by a small indie developer. Having this creepy thing watching me sleep would totally scare sh*t out of me irl. In terms of sound design, it is nearly perfect, creates the unique atmosphere of being alone (with dog) in the middle of nowhere. You can practically feel the stinging northern cold and the dread of being haunted by an abnormally strong, mysterious creature of unknown nature. A few scary moments had me twitched, so I bet a horror games' fan will have pretty good times in this game. On top of everything, the graphics are beautiful, and moreover, a hundred and twenty frames per second in 1440p max settings, which is utterly nice to see. I sincerely wish this game to have many players and as much appreciation as it deserves.
Game is incredibly repetitive. The numerous reviews praising the gameplay confuse me because there is essentailly none. It is a walking simulator with an occasional point and click with the gun. Even the monster in it you click once and then it fades to black to get away. It goes nowhere in a reasonable amount of time, days and days get repeated to pad out the runtime. It's kind of baffling. The desire to tell something interesting is there, but the horror is...just not really there. The atmospheric noise has a broken loop that's very hard to not notice. The footsteps that you'll hear most of the game have a variety of sounds, but they all play in a sequential order in a way that you can hear the pattern like a beat in your head and it gets stuck there.
Thank You So De ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Much, 20.08 мы запомним навсегда, это было ахуительно.
goated game super fun
This is a very slow burn type of game and many people will not like it. I personally really enjoyed it. I loved the oppressive atmosphere, even if 'nothing' happened, I was on edge every time I left the cabin. I love Rocky and of course you can pet the dog! The story, while a little goofy at times, is put together in an interesting way and if you find all the story bits, you get a bit extra at the end-nothing earth shaking, but a nice touch. [strike] However I'm pretty sure that is not how Lyme disease works at all [/strike] This game taught me something about Lyme disease I didn't know! It is kinda weird that the final showdown, so to speak, isnt interactive at all. Maybe a qte would have helped here? idk Anyway it was a fun 'trapped in a cabin with your dog and a weird creature stalking you' game, that didn't overuse its enemy. I feel like if I had had to run away from the creature each time I went outside it would have gotten annoying real quick and I commend the creator(S?) for resisting that. If you like chill, slow burn horror set in Alaska and have a couple hours, you may like this. Also the 100% was pretty chill and it has chapter select for any clean up :)
8 dollars for what its a hour of gameplay it gets very repetitive, the idea of the game is cool but they just didn't do it right.
