the game was absolutely brilliant! i could not stop playing. the characters were so endearing, and im so glad i (vir) was able to create a personal rapport with everyone of them. the flora fauna of this environment, and the art style that is recreated in the artworks within the gallery are so captivating! the lore of the dilapidated palace and broken hearts was so fun! the headmaster was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ but like the game was so fun and so comforting! 11/10! totally worth it!
A short(ish), sweet experience with a straightforward narrative and deeper thematic undertones of rural poverty and hardships. The hand-drawn artstyle is charming and deeply engaging and the developers deserve all the support!!

**Recommended | 9/10** *The Palace on the Hill* is such a beautiful game. The hand-painted art style looks amazing, and the soundtrack really hit me in a nostalgic way, even though I was hearing it for the first time. It somehow reminded me of going to the village as a kid, and that made the whole experience feel extra special. My only real complaint is that it felt too short. I wanted more places to explore, and the love story felt a little incomplete. The world is so charming that I honestly did not want it to end. I even come back every 2–3 months just to check if there is any new content. Overall, it is a lovely little game and definitely worth playing.
I loved this game. Firstly, the art is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The style and color choices both come together and make the game very visually appealing. I'll be vague in favor of avoiding spoilers in this part. The way the paintings all came together was so satisfying to see, and the way the last painting is made was fun to play through. The mechanics are simple and repetitive outside of the tasks you are assigned (which further the main storyline). Imo the repetition is not a bad thing, especially considering the length of the game (around 7 hours), but it can be made more interesting by adding some dialogue for the characters to flesh them out. I was intrigued by character backstories, and would have loved to get to know them more. Additionally, I wish we got some detail and small glimpses into the future through maybe a post credit scene or something just so it doesn't feel like there are any loose ends. Overall though, this game was a touching and lovely experience!
