About
The Message from Deep Space is an odyssey of puzzles. Take the role of the mission's Translator, working alongside a scrappy band of scientists, and venture headfirst into the world of deciphering an alien language --- completely from the ground up.
Set in 1973, Earth is the recipient of a meteorite that broadcasts radio waves. In the role of the mission's Translator, the player is responsible for designing responses to the meteorite's transmissions, which, if correct, will elicit new messages from the meteorite. Only through this radio wave dialogue will patterns, words, syntax, and meaning all take form, leaving but one question:
What is it the aliens want to say?
Translate an alien language
Learn about an alien civilization
Interface with a retro computer
Manage a user-driven dictionary
Design radio transmissions by frequency
Collaborate with scientists that respond to your actions
+1000 in-game dialogues
+30 minutes OST
+30 hours of gameplay
Inspired by The Golden Record aboard the Voyager I space probe, The Message from Deep Space takes a realistic approach to deciphering an interstellar message. Beginning with the limited universal constants available to technologically advanced civilizations, the message spans a range of real-world fields of math & science. Decoding the message is tough, but with the support of the game's meticulous linguist, the single-minded computer programmer, and the affable astronomer, it is a challenge fit for anyone with Curiosity and Perseverance.

Oh my god. This is going to sound so nerdy but I mean it with 100% sincerity. This game fulfills one of my long-held sci-fi wishes, which is to see first contact built up from first principles. Arrival is fine. Project Hail Mary is a little better. But THIS game is exactly the story the little astronomy & linguistics nerd in me has been waiting for forever. I worry that I can't recommend this to any of my friends because it so perfectly fits a niche I'm interested in. I worry I can't recommend it because maybe I'm leaning on a CS and Astronomy background that my friends don't have. But you better be sure that I WILL be recommending this to everyone, because Bautista is bae and everyone needs to meet him.
Really impressive. If you're a math or linguistic nerd it's mandatory, buy immediately.

A really nice way to spend an evening or twenty. It's really exciting to figure out exactly what the aliens are trying to say, and the characters make sure it never becomes too exhausting. Some of the later transmissions (at 500+) could use some refining - figuring out exactly how to phrase your responses can be hard - but the Discord is happy to give you hints, and hopefully some of the more confusing transmissions will be fixed.
Good game, I'm stupid
I haven't finished the game yet, but so far, it's one of my top games of all time. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I played the demo, and I've been recommending the full release to just about everyone I know. It's definitely confusing at times, but every time something just clicks with a frequency definition it makes it all worth it. I can't recommend it highly enough.
It makes you feel like such an amazing problem solver, and I think emulates first contact very well.
THIS IS NOT A LANGAGE PUZZLE GAME ITS MATH
but if you really like math and logic puzzles its really fun
Opinions on this game are almost certainly going to be polarised. If you enjoy the "translation" aspect of games such as Chants of Senaar and Poumosa, then this game is purely that. So if you don't enjoy those things then you will absolutely hate this game. And to be honest, even the start is rough. With nothing other than the text to go on - because there's no exploring environments or anything similar - the language has to literally be taught from first principles, starting with math equations (because numbers are always understandable) and going through chemistry and physics. There's a built in reference with all of the information you'll need, but it can still be rather heavy going to start with. However, if you can get through that, the reward is genuinely fantastic. There's a series of incredibly well-written messages describing how an alien species might interact with humans for the first time. The aliens themselves and their world are interesting in multiple ways. While I didn't have the big emotional reactions that some players did, I was still struck by certain messages. At that point, the experience becomes absolutely unique; it's just that you have to get through rather a lot to get there. There's a few minor quality of life issues such as some discomfort about how the interface works, but they aren't dealbreakers for the underlying material. If you are someone who likes this sort of thing, then this is the sort of thing you REALLY like. If you aren't, you'll probably give up before getting to the best bits. That's probably the safest thing to say.
Oh my god. This game was simply incredible, a real Chants of Senaar x Project Hail Mary. Be prepared to do a lot of math but the pay off is really good. (-245) and (-243)
This game is so nerdy and I love it! Keep a pen, paper, and calculator nearby to make the process smoother. Also keep a running list of any transmissions or definitions that you’re not 100% certain on, so you can revisit them later. And don't look at any more marketing material as you may spoil some things for the game!
