About
The Message from Deep Space is an odyssey of puzzles. Take the role of the mission's Translator, working alongside a scrappy band of scientists, and venture headfirst into the world of deciphering an alien language --- completely from the ground up.
Set in 1973, Earth is the recipient of a meteorite that broadcasts radio waves. In the role of the mission's Translator, the player is responsible for designing responses to the meteorite's transmissions, which, if correct, will elicit new messages from the meteorite. Only through this radio wave dialogue will patterns, words, syntax, and meaning all take form, leaving but one question:
What is it the aliens want to say?
Translate an alien language
Learn about an alien civilization
Interface with a retro computer
Manage a user-driven dictionary
Design radio transmissions by frequency
Collaborate with scientists that respond to your actions
+1000 in-game dialogues
+30 minutes OST
+30 hours of gameplay
Inspired by The Golden Record aboard the Voyager I space probe, The Message from Deep Space takes a realistic approach to deciphering an interstellar message. Beginning with the limited universal constants available to technologically advanced civilizations, the message spans a range of real-world fields of math & science. Decoding the message is tough, but with the support of the game's meticulous linguist, the single-minded computer programmer, and the affable astronomer, it is a challenge fit for anyone with Curiosity and Perseverance.

This game is incredible. A journey of 1000 steps, and thank goodness there's such a smart community to help along the way. I'll miss this game so dearly. No other puzzle game will hit quite like it. -245 -30 -243

Good presentation of an interesting premise. A few places so far where I'd have appreciated an idea from the team, though they mostly do a good job of speaking up to point the player in the right direction. Yes, it's front-loaded with math and some chemistry and physics, but it does still feel like it's building to something throughout. Best of all, I felt something while playing this, not something I can say about a lot of games.

What a cool concept of a game. This really feels unique in the way it wants to present the concept of an unknown transmission from outer space and untangling the mysteries around it. Loveable characters and good music! Total playtime was around 40 hours for me. In the end the game did overstay its welcome a little. Also, be prepared to do a lot of math, physics and chemistry.
Wow, this game was incredible. A game about aliens, that serves as a commentary about what it means to be human. "The stars were beautiful tonight. Leave it the astronomer to point that out." I'd be lying if I said this game didn't make me emotional. Control might have some competition as my favorite game. (jk control is still my fav but this is 100% 2nd)
Excellent ! Le début est très "mathématique", j'attends de voir si le jeu se diversifie un peu dans la suite
An excellent game about constructing a shared language from scratch. Remarkably un-frustrating given the complexity of what it's trying to do.
This is a brilliant puzzle game where you translate messages received by an alien species. The game info says the game offers 30+ hours of gameplay. I have hit the 30 hour mark and still have plenty of puzzles left to go through. This was recommended to me because I enjoyed Chants of Senaar, and while I do think this scratches a similar itch, I think there is enough difference here that fans of other puzzle games would enjoy this as well. There is also an extensive demo you can try to see if it's for you.
The Message from Deep Space is one of those kinds of games that you will only get to experience once. Similar games include Chants of Sennar and Heavens Vault in that you are decoding alien transmissions into something legible, but I could also make very loose comparisons to The Outer Wilds just in the sort of mood that's set. Roughly the first quarter of the game is dealing with a lot of math and trying to rationalize concepts using just math, but as the game goes on you start deciphering actual alien language and grammar. Saying much more than that would spoil too much of the game. The game is paced in a way that you learn about a few concepts which culminates in some cool revelation, followed by an 'end of week' summary, after which your colleagues will provide suggestions for words you've defined in case you were still struggling with them. There's also plenty of incidental dialog between your colleagues which can either serve as important hints or just funny banter. If you aren't afraid of doing some math or getting help from the steam forums or discord then 10 MONEY UNIT is worth the price of admission. There is also a free demo which covers the first 'act' consisting of about 70 transmissions, and progress from the demo rolls over into the main game (it did for me at least. I heard it didn't for others, but even so you can breeze through those transmissions if you have to once you've already seen them)
