About
The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is a narrative-driven RPG that comes to life on the pages of the protagonist's journal. Set in a ruthless world where any form of dissent is mercilessly crushed, the story follows a man who has dared to challenge the existing order. Set out on a lifelong journey and become an individual able to carve out their own destiny... But remember that freedom never comes cheap.
Life in the Great Arknian Empire is harsh and its hardest Lot is yours by the circumstance of birth. You are a commoner, holding no rights and no title. To seize your fate and become the rightful heir to the legacy of the Brante family you will have to come to grips with ossified tradition and prejudice. Embarking on a life-long journey from one's birth until true death, you will have to endure great upheavals, face adversity, and make many difficult choices. Every decision will affect not only the protagonist, his family, and loved ones, but may even topple the foundation of the Empire itself.

At the turn of time
Every imperial citizen's life is predetermined by their estate. The deities known as the Twin Gods have bestowed this truth to the world, dividing mortals into Lots. The nobles lead and rule over others, while the clergy guides people on the one true path, and the lowborn suffer, toiling away for the glory of the Empire. You may accept your fate without question, but it is also in your power to change the cosmic order that governs all.

Your choice is not an illusion
Divided into chapters, the game keeps track of the player's deeds, the skills they acquired, as well as other overlapping circumstances that shape a unique plotline for each playthrough. Every decision has its consequences and you will be held accountable throughout the entire journey. To protect your family and loved ones, to impose the rule of the Emperor and make a fortune, or to try and change the world as you see fit... Make your choice, but beware of the follies of pride and ambition.

Fight for your life
One man is anything but omnipotent in this realm yet under your guidance, Sir Brante may become a person who can endure every trial fate throws at him and rewrite the very laws that govern his world! Develop and train your character, leveling up such traits as determination, sensitivity, and endurance. All of the hero's skills, starting with those acquired in infancy, will affect his personality, worldview, and relationships, ultimately unlocking new talents and possible storylines.

Find your own path
The first complete walkthrough can take you upwards of 15 hours! Numerous branching paths that affect the unfolding story will make every playthrough a unique experience: become a noble judge, learn the ways of the inquisition, plot a revolution as a member of a secret society, or embrace an entirely different purpose. Be brave and fate itself shall bend to your will!

There and hereafter
Resurrection system allows the character to keep his experience upon death, letting the player reevaluate past steps and make adjustments to their strategy going forward. Take control not only of your life but also your demise, then put everything at stake in this cycle of death and rebirth!

Reviews

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Having played this game, I am now eternally plagued by steam recommending me various hentai visual novel garbage. Heavy is the burden imposed upon your average "choices matter" enjoyer... Anyway, the game is really good with establishing an interesting narrative and lore that gets you immediately hooked. It presents you with an arrangement of storylines to pursue, always keeping you on your toes with choices that challenge your views and morals. You really have to carefully plan out your skills and behaviour direction; there are always matters you have to sacrifice in order to achieve something. This kind of careful maneuvering straight out of an otome VN felt very exciting to encounter in a game that doesn't focus itself on wooing some dude's png. My only complaint is that I really wished for the game to have some kind of voiceover, but it's obvious the game was made on a tight budget so voice acting couldn't be implemented. Generally I don't care much for voiceovers, but I felt like the game could've potentially benefitted from it quite a lot. It's still a great 'choices matter' VN though, would take the follow-up plunge of cursed steam recommendations anytime.
Boring and artificial intelligence
poorly made and the ending felt so rushed. The choices are terrible and you really need to minmax and sometimes go out of what your character would actually do. As a novel it's terrible to read and very repetitive and the story never sets off. I had to start skimming because I got really tired after chapter four. Terrible game. the 10 hours that I wasted were not worth it even if the game was free.
Received the game for free back then but haven't touched the game since. - While I haven't had the chance to finish my first playthrough, I am already loving the game. Yes it is a narrative-based / visual novel type genre where you actually do nothing but read the whole story via written text hence the visual-novel genre, it somehow captivated my interest in a way that you decide which path would you lead starting from your childhood up to your own death *least that's what the game says*. As mentioned, I haven't gotten the chance to finish my first act or session. The effects or the after-dialogue outcomes are well written. I also like the way that the game actually locks some choices / actions depending on whichever previous choices you made. Tho I'm not really sure if the actual game itself have different endings based on your choices or is it similar to the walking dead telltale, sure it isn't a visual novel but a narrative-driven game as well but it doesn't really affect on "how the path would end". Regardless, I received the game for free and it is a solid visual novel game. Gamers who loves to read narrative-games or likes games that actually lets you choose on which actions would you take will definitely enjoy the game. I'm still at the "childhood path" but I might edit up my review for additional follow-up once I completed my first session / playthrough.
If you enjoy poorly written text repeating the same phrases and concepts to you dozens of times for several hours like the authors think you have dementia, this is a game for you.
