About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

First time I've ever written a review. It's super fun feels exactly like playing Oblivion when I was a kid. Excited to see more of this!
A scrolls-like made for scrolls fans unique and peak remember it's not a bug it's a feature.
Love it!!! Original story no hand holding just like the good ol'days! Reminds me of questing in Morrowind, Runescape and Og WOW before all the addons.
A very good Morrowind-Like with a promising future.
A vintage style Scrollslike that lives up to the concept. It's decidedly smaller in scope but it has captured the strangeness of settings like Morrowind. There's plenty of places to explore, things to do, systems driven gameplay, and a classic openness. The world does occasionally feel a bit empty, and combat can feel a little off with hit detection for unarmed and ranged attacks, but when it works it really works in a way that is deeply satisfying. There's some really strong writing, a compelling world to explore, and open gameplay that rewards how you like to play. There are a few drawbacks. Hit detection can feel a little off with some weapons, especially unarmed strikes and ranged weapons and spells, largely down to difficult to predict trajectories, poor feedback on hit box locations, and awkward aiming for short enemies. Performance can sometimes crawl because of various memory leaks and performance issues. However, for an early access game, all of these are easily fixable problems and some of the most eggregious performance issues have already been fixed. I suspect one of the ones I'm thinking of particularly might have just been fixed in a patch- day 1 performance was dramatically worse than current performance. There's some polishing left to be done, but nothing beyond a "reasonable" scope of polish for an early access game. If you can't handle any rough edges or jank, then I'd recommend waiting for a little bit, but if you're yearning for a vintage Scrollslike odds are you probably are used to some amount of jank. In that case, I can easily recommend it. It truly does live up to the concept of an "Elder Scrolls inspired" RPG. I look forward to what comes next for both this game and any future releases from NerveLabs.
Would cause deforestation of an entire mushroom forest again and cram the entire thing into my pocket again. 11/10
Game runs poorly. I have an older PC but can still handle most games pretty well. Wait for later build.
