About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

Devs contacted me near instantly about PC problems. Helpful and super kind, One day I'll try to run the game but for the moment it is beyond me. Enjoy the dungeon running all you of the Fool's Court! Recommend for that alone.

PROS: fun to play, solid mechanics, interesting map, interesting storyline - on that alone it's infinitely better than most games you see in the discovery queue - 10/10 would recommend... and 100% will continue playing this :) CONS: needs polish specifically around collision. Falling through the map when hugging walls and clipping are large issues - try scaling up the character collision mesh a bit. ^ easy to fix in game by turning off collision and extracting yourself from the map then turning it back on.. I just don't want to have to do that.
I'd pay more money for this. Cool game.
The video game Lantern of the Laughless Saint is a Morrowind-inspired role-playing game with all the same jank and the same strange story as Morrowind. There are no rails like in Fallout 4 or Skyrim, you’re free to break the game with your build as much as your imagination allows. The dev NuclearSnake is very active in the community and is clearly passionate to make a great game. To give a sense of the passion, it has local and online 4-player cooperative play. Game map is 3d rendered with sun/moon shadow. Hidden secrets lie everywhere, I’m still rocking a sword from a locked temple 5 minutes from the starting area. Most importantly, if you turn on “quest markers” in the gameplay options, you’ll hear the Saint laugh at you and the option is deleted. Developer trolling you for turning on quest markers? I knew this game was great Some negatives: For the graphics, I was surprised how much of a resource-hog the game is, and can be buggy, but that’s early access. Some of the talents/perks have enough downside to make them questionable to take. Spell effects take up the whole screen and should be toned down for multiple opponent encounters
Going to take me forever to explore the map.
Amazing vibes, super creative ideas, lets you fly with spells. Go to the tower.
Very cool in concept, needs some work in the optimization department. Very excited to follow this game's development!
Elder Scrolls Nostalgia at its finest.
Nerevar, this ain't your daddy's Morrowind. Amazing how a indie team can make a scrolls-like better than a AAA company thats been doing this ♡♡♡♡ for 20+ years. Level 20 and I've been running around drinking beer like a mad man and fighting fever dream creatures. The gameplay is fun, kin to Morrowind and Oblivion but without that dice roll style combat from morrowind. The skill/perk system is neat. The dialogue and voice acting is fun an entertaining. The story so far has been a blast. I havent found too many lore books. Love the game, its been fun. I have not tried co-op yet and theres a splitscreen, though its in Beta. Found 2 companions and they both died in thier first fight with me. Moon and Star, Nerevar. ♤♤♤♤ Todd Howard!
