About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

Reviews
I could not post my entire review, but you can find it here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/3849000/discussions/0/581681298840487929/ The developers are really cooking with this game, but they are still cooking. I actually DO recommend this game for Scrolls-like enthusiasts who are willing to undertake significant jank in order to support a project that has a lot of potential. If you are skeptical of the project... maybe wait a while. The good: - Multiplayer is straightforward and works well overall. - Character creation is minimal but sufficient. - The world is full of lovable turn-of-the-century weirdness. - The lore is great - The map is beautiful - Game-breaking unlockable gear! The bad: - The controls are absolute garbage. We are eagerly awaiting a conventional keyboard configuration - Not all skills are supported equally. Melee and Armor are most expedient. Spellcrafting and alchemy are not fully developed. The environment doesn't really support Ranged and Stealth gameplay. - The environment is not yet fully populated with content, and the monster difficulty is flat across most regions. - The economy is still underdeveloped - Side quests are basically mandatory, and many are not solvable in a logical way I am optimistic that this game will improve, and when it does I will be happy to retract this and give a Thumbs Up!

This is legit one of the best games I've ever played. Yes it's janky here and there, but the devs have been working hard as hell over the past week, and their love for this project really shows
Has the sauce
Didnt get alot of time in before this review but, I already love this game. I can feel the Morrowind inspiration just about everywhere. The visuals, world structure, and my favorite part, the lack of hand holding. You're given a quest and left to your own devices to figure out where to go and what to do. Im looking forward to many hours in this world!
There is a lot to like about this game. I like that it doesn't hold your hand. I like that there's no quest markers. I like that it rewards you for being interested in the dialogue. The island has lots of points of interests that I genuinely want to explore. The in-game map is fantastic, I like that points of interest can be discovered, added by NPCs or that you can find them implicitly by zooming and panning around it. Save often, you will die - because at first you won't know what you're doing (you also genuinely feel your character becoming more powerful as you level up and find better gear - I would imagine that this is the intention before you go into 'The Hole'). I appreciate that this game basically functions as a playable teaser for The Holy Fool - I like the concept of being an outsider who washed up on the shore, but as I'm exploring, I'd like more lore about the world in which The Lantern of the Laughless saint is set in - presumably this would be achieved through books and dialogue. Currently there doesn't seem to be many books (or I haven't found them yet) and many of the characters feel very superficial - "I am a lizard wizard and I live in the beast town". I'd like for some of these characters to feel slightly more developed, with their own stories and goals. I lost freg and now my heart is broken </3
As is with any grand Morrowind inspired game I was able to become a god through alchemy.
elder scrolls but two player, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing game.
game kept crashing as soon as i started a game, had to drop all settings to minimum (which is fine, i usually do that) at which point it played the beginning cutscene and then crashed again. on my fifth try i got into the game, and oh wow it runs poorly. My PC isnt the best but I feel like when my render distance is set to "low" i shouldnt be lagging out just looking at something thats forcefully rendered in the distance, even turning down the resolution didnt do much. I cant comment on the game itself besides that the vibes were great off rip and the only reason im not playing it is because it cant even run at a stable 30, this review is more just a warning that its a little more demanding than you might anticipate
lives up to the hype
Saint told me to blow my ♥♥♥♥ SMOOVE off
