About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

I'll put it simply, first: Did you like Morrowind? Did you like Morrowind despite (or because of!) its weirdness and jank? Then you will like Lantern of the Laughless Saint and you should buy it. This is a worthy successor to TESIII--or it will be once the bugs get fixed. Less simply: This game is a passion project by some people who are clearly BIG fans of the Elder Scrolls franchise but have been disappointed with where it's gone lately and thought they could do better, which is itself pretty awesome. It plays like if Morrowind was set in the Shivering Isles, with a good number of modernizations bolted on. Mechanics-wise it feels very familiar to anyone who's played a TES game. If you've completed Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim, you'll feel comfortable with how it all works right away. People who haven't played a TES game might have a bit of a harder time understanding how everything works, but there's nothing overly complicated under the hood here--the learning curve is pretty gentle when it comes to the actual gameplay, and there are plenty of low-level areas to explore before the 'training wheels' come off. And there's co-op! That by itself would probably be enough to get my recommendation. Finally, there's the world, characters, and plot. I haven't done much in the main quest yet, but so far the world design has been top notch. The NPCs run in a nice spectrum from 'kinda rude' to 'totally unhinged,' and there's voiced dialogue, which is actually more than I expected from a smaller project like this. A lot of work was put into designing a world that feels strange and alien, and it shows. Also, I found a bag of edible snakes, which I thought should be mentioned. Now let's talk about the downsides. Bugs! Bugs everywhere! My co-op partner has fallen through the world more times than I can count. Until yesterday there was a HUGE bug that caused all of your quests to disappear from your log if you loaded an autosave. The game is seriously janky, so don't buy it if you can't put up with some of that in exchange for your fun. I should mention here, though, that the devs seem to be hard at work patching and fixing the game. In the short time since launch there have been no fewer than 11 patches and hotfixes, some of them adding major content/rebalancing, some just fixing bugs as they're reported. So, I'm pretty confident that someone reading this review a month from now will go 'hey! they already fixed that!' In conclusion: If you've ever said the words 'man, they just don't make games like Morrowind anymore,' buy this game immediately. If you like first person action RPGs and/or weird-on-purpose games, strongly consider buying this game. But, if you have a low tolerance for jank? Maybe wait a little while and check back later.

Now I have to wait for the next game, since the ending is almost like a crash. 9/10 game. Needs a hot bar or some way to move the wheel around, because selecting the spells or weapons off the hot bar list is rough if you have a lot.
It has some bug but overall such a wonderful game.
Does the game have some bugs, absolutely. Still enjoying it regardless. This game has potential and with a little polish it will be something special. Definitely worth a try.
Looks like the devs were tired of waiting for a proper spiritual successor to Morrowind and took up the challenge themselves. And so far I'd say they've nailed it, with their own unique vision in mind. Lage handcrafted world with attention to detail, there are voiced characters and communities scattered, I love the alien and strange quirks it has throughout, and the combat is typical. I'm pretty invested, cant wait to see more. May be too early to tell, but I'm putting this one in my favorites for those reasons (Morrowind!). Side Note: the Calyx race has digitigrade hindlimbs, just like the khajiit in Morrowind, a feature that Bethesda should've kept in later titles! Very cool to see.
If you like Morrowind or Oblivion, and you're sick of Bethesda's "it just works" philosophy or just need something new in the same genre, this is a must get.
I can’t recommend this game enough. The community is great, and even with the bugs, the devs has been on it since day one. I’m excited to see what’s in store for this game.
Multiple times yes, its what everyone morrowind fanboy has been waiting for excluding a lot of the jank and awful design decisions, 10/10
