An arena brawler that is all about fighting against your friends, with support for up to four players. Single players can only fight against bots, which do not offer much playtime. There is only one game mode, but it can be customized in several ways. First, you choose the win objective, either getting the most kills or being the last one standing. Then you can choose between free for all or team battles, followed by the round length and which of the six stages you want to fight in. Choosing a stage is actually choosing the environment, as the layout itself is randomized. The platforming mechanics are familiar, and the controls are fairly standard. Your basic move is a useful jump that can be chained into a double jump and a wall jump up a vertical surface. Wall jumping has a slight restriction, as you can only jump up a wall a limited number of times before needing to touch the ground to recharge it. However, since the stages are limited to a single screen, this is rarely a problem. Depending on the character, these abilities can also come with unique perks. For example, one character is a bird that can jump several times in a row without touching the ground, while another can simply walk up vertical walls. The six available characters also have different attacks and special abilities. Each character has a tutorial and an encyclopedia that explains their moves and how to perform them, making it easier to learn what each one can do. You will need to get comfortable with each character because they all play differently. While the orc attacks normally with a mace, the fish can dash for a while before finishing with an attack. Characters also have different special abilities, ranging from straightforward options such as the orc's shield, which blocks damage, and the chicken's ability to reload its eggs, to more useful ones, such as the spore character's stunning cloud. Every character also has a dodge move, although pulling it off consistently during hectic fights can be difficult. To make things more interesting, each stage has its own unique elements. In the cult stage, for example, you need to collect randomly appearing crystals that trigger cultists to help you. In the mechanic stage, an enemy robot flies around and attacks everyone it sees. These additions help make each environment feel a little different, despite the relatively simple structure. Ultimately, this is a game that is best enjoyed with friends. The character variety, randomized layouts, and stage specific mechanics can make the matches entertaining, but the limited content and lack of a substantial single player experience mean it gets boring fairly quickly when playing alone.
