About

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.
Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.
Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a dystopian world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, AI automata, cybernetically enhanced soldiers, human-machine hybrids, and relentless automated warfare. There's two sides to this war, and you're not on either.

Reviews

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

TLDR: quite beautiful, runs well, smooth for us but kind of clunky for enemies, addicted so far, Ai feels kind of dumb up until they spot you, scratches a hard to reach itch, cows "What?", yes they fly, no I'm not kidding. I bought Forever Winter even though it has all the negative reviews and I'm glad I did because I enjoy the game a lot, it's like an ugly dog that you still want to pet, or a hairless cat that feels kind of odd to touch, it's a good experience, but it's different. Forever Winter is quite beautiful and kind of ugly all at once. I enjoy the setting very much and characters can be detailed, while also having an odd structure to their faces or bodies, very unique. The HUGE mechs and robots remind me of MECHASSAULT (no you can't drive them). The audio is pretty good too. The game runs well for me on medium settings (3070ti), but sometimes during loading it takes 5-10 seconds for things to catch up and render into place. The gameplay itself is kind of clunky, maybe not so much for our own characters, but the enemies can certainly be very clunky by getting stuck on weird terrain or whatever happens before they spring back to life. I've found myself kind of addicted so far. The gameplay can be difficult, but if you're careful and sneak around or while fighting you don't get mobbed by a whole group and corned you'll be fine. I've died many times because I find myself thinking I'm "that guy" and we can be "that guy" with the small enemies, but the huge mechs and other larger enemies will ♥♥♥♥ your day in zero seconds. Even getting cornered by the small dudes will have you sweating and frantically shooting, running for cover, healing, shooting, dodging enemies as they flank to get angles on you, it's a riot. The Ai feels kind of dumb up until they spot you, once you're spotted they might start shooting at you (depends on a lot of things), however NOT with aimbot precision, they do flank, they do take cover and find angles, so all and all I find fighting the enemies quite enjoyable. You can also try to run and hide basically and they'll lose focus on you. The knockdown mechanic is kind of annoying, but it does add another layer of "be careful, motha lovva". I enjoy Forever winter because the difficultly level feels right and the shooting and looting gameplay scratches a hard to reach itch. The game gives you information, but also doesn't hold your hand or make you play a certain way. Run and gun, sneak and loot, long range, close range, watch the mechs fight, cows "What?", yes they fly, no I'm not kidding.
I want this to be good but it's just not... It looks so so good, and the vibes are immaculate. The soundtrack is so good that I bought it. But it's so jank and so buggy that it's almost unplayable. Maybe they'll fix it, but it's not cooked yet.
Only game that has annoyed me enough to leave a review. got a spawn that forced a wait for extraction and every bloody time there is a mech on it so when I go to extract and run away I get stuck in the map and shot full of holes or just get surrounded because when you have to wait the game spawns 4 waves of enemies all around you. Game has a cool atmosphere but gameplay sucks a big one.
game still needs work, movement and shooting feel clumsy and empty, quests barely work. idk silly stuff lie that. with that said, there's still nothing like it and its unique world keeps pulling me back in. people with low tolerances for janky games should beware. i wish the devs would stop adding new features and just fix the main game first.
This game is lifeless, plays nothing like the videos they show you, generally dissappointed in this one
I love TFW, It's the ONLY extraction style game I like. The world and the artstyle is amazing and it makes me wanna see more, It got me hooked instantly. It gives me chills everytime I'm scavenging and I hear/see a firefight happening nearby or when I get a night map and I have to be at my best when it comes to stealth. I really hope this game gets the praise it deserves. Yes I understand the devs can make mistakes, but mistakes can be fixed and values can be changed. As for me, I do hope they can fix the "aggro" system that is going on at the time of this review. I hope my review helped you decide if you're gonna give this game a try. I am pleased with the experience I got and I hope you have a good time as well!
95% vibes - 5% half-assed engineering: maps are more likely to crash and operate badly in later stages, characters glitching through objects which can lead to forced deaths and loss of items, innard upgrades require actual in-world time to finish just like in mobile games, AI's trash for both enemies and recruited teammates. The devs should've just sticked to drawing on microsoft paint.
