The Elision Effect

neat little liminal game. discomforting but not overly creepy. i've played lots of map labs so it's cool to see tea make a standalone game rip holly l. i don't know who you were but you will be missed

The Elision Effect is an okay game. I can’t exactly remember why I bought this game originally, but I think it was because I was searching for surreal and liminal type games before. The Elision Effect does sort of have a surrealist/liminal vibe, like it's an office space with no one there and there are some weird areas, but other than that, it's whatever in terms of liminal-esque stuff. Also, the game is really short, even on a first playthrough, not knowing anything, I beat it in about 15 minutes. Afterwords, I then spent another 20 or so minutes getting the rest of the achievements. The length of the game is fine, but I think more can be done with this format. A longer game could potentially introduce new mechanics and have areas with its own unique puzzles. The Elision Effect does try to do something like that, but since the game is so short, it's not explored as much as it could've been. I guess if I wanted a game like that though, I’d just play Superliminal again. I mean I love Superliminal, but I'd still like to play another game similar to it, and The Elision Effect has some decent elements that could definitely be expanded into a bigger, fuller experience.
