Game is good rn, the new difficulty settings actually introduce some challenge into combat which requires some degree of thought on what actions you should take, and actually use the various mechanics that existed before that were just pointless due to the enemies having the damage output and health of wet paper.
A massive world to explore, some questlines and storylines are cookie cutter, some are decently written with characters I'll remember. I feel a key part of enjoying the game is finding some intrinsic motivation or goal to work towards, ie buying and fully furnishing a house, trying to explore and complete every zone, or dominating the pvp space. It is after all, a sandbox-oriented game, as all Bethesda games are.
Some might say the game is unplayable without paying for ESO plus, but I disagree, you can easily get by if you take advantage of being able to create multiple characters that you can transfer stuff between at no cost, and buy the inventory and bank space (with the main in-game earnable gold currency). Some may not like going back to towns to sell their plunder, and store the materials and items they want for crafting, but I like it, and think it adds to the immersion. But eventually if you do want more, the DLC's and expansions can have exceptionally high prices, which kinda forces you to get ESO plus if you want to play them at a reasonable price.
This game checks a lot of boxes for me as a wind-down game. And in the current state, I can see myself clocking a few more hundred hours on it. But if you come to this game expecting a fleshed out combat system, or a deep RPG narrative with branching storylines, this game may disappoint you, but I had no such expectations for this game, and enjoy it for what it is.
