Звуковое сопровождение идеально дополняет визуальную составляющую, усиливая эффект погружения. Несмотря на короткую продолжительность, игра оставляет после себя сильное впечатление. Она заставляет задуматься о смысле жизни, памяти и потерях. Рекомендую всем любителям атмосферных приключений и игр, которые трогают душу.

The Dream is a very strange little game, and I think that is probably the best way to describe it. It throws me into a post apocalyptic version of Barcelona in the near future, where the world has been wrecked by war and AI. Instead of being some heroic soldier trying to save civilisation, my job is basically to clean up radioactive AI waste while trying to survive. I honestly liked how ridiculous that idea is because it gives the game its own personality right away. The main gameplay revolves around exploring the city and cleaning up the radioactive mess scattered around the environment. The more I clean, the more money I can make, which gives me a simple reason to keep pushing further into the map. I liked that the game turns what sounds like a boring cleaning job into something much more dangerous. I am not just wandering around picking things up because there are hostile aliens and other threats that can make the job go very badly. The pulse gun is another important part of the experience. I can discover upgrades for it that change how it works and give me different firing options. Energy chargers are also scattered around the city, so I have to keep an eye on my energy while exploring. I enjoyed this because the weapon does not just feel like a basic tool for shooting enemies. Finding upgrades gives me something to look forward to while I am working my way through the ruined city. I also liked the strange world that the game creates. Barcelona has been transformed into a radioactive wasteland, but there is still a central plaza where I can return between expeditions. There is even a leaderboard, which gives the cleaning job a competitive side. The whole thing feels like a bizarre mixture of extraction game, shooter and survival adventure, although it is definitely much smaller and more experimental than a big budget game in those genres. The biggest issue for me is that The Dream feels very much like a small indie project. There are some rough edges in the presentation and the overall experience can feel a little empty at times. The basic loop of exploring, cleaning, earning money and surviving is enjoyable, but it does not have an enormous amount of depth behind it. I also think the game could have done more with its unusual setting because the idea of cleaning up an AI ruined Barcelona is honestly more interesting than some of the actual content built around it. At the same time, I appreciate how much character the game has. It was made by a solo developer, and I think that makes the rougher parts easier for me to overlook. There is something charming about a game where the developer basically says that this is a very difficult waste collection job and then throws aliens and radioactive hazards into the middle of it. The fact that it is free also makes it easier for me to recommend as a quick experimental game rather than expecting it to compete with much larger extraction shooters. Overall, I think The Dream is a weird but enjoyable little experience. The cleaning mechanic is simple, the pulse gun gives the exploration some action and the post apocalyptic Barcelona setting gives the whole thing a memorable identity. It definitely feels limited in scope and I wanted more depth from some of its systems, but I still had fun exploring the city and trying to make enough money from cleaning while staying alive. It is rough around the edges, but there is enough personality here to make it worth checking out. Rating: 6.8/10
