The Cleaner

I had an idea of what I was getting into thanks to the other reviews, but ho boy. Still definitely got some emotional damage playing this myself. We slowly unravel the story and the cleaner's character as well as develop his relationship. I didn't quite expect the majority of this to be dialogue, but it worked for me. The narrative flowed nicely and I got fully invested. I didn't mind the "repetitive" cleaning mechanics; they kind of fit the vibe, like that just being the cleaner's gloomy life. And they don't go on for too long before the story advances more in between, so it's totally fine. I had some errors pop up that files could not be loaded correctly, which I could "fix" by clicking ok and then immediately hitting X to open the menu a couple of times. A bit annoying, but at least nothing game breaking. Overall a great experience for a small price!

Such a heartfelt and emotional game, would highly recommend. So well made and I couldn't stop playing till I finished it cause I just had to know what was gonna happen next.

i'm not one for writing reviews, but i really wanted to leave one, so please excuse me if it's janky. i genuinely really enjoyed playing this. i didn't have any expectations going into it, but it managed to wow me in ways i didn't expect. not only did i not feel bored for even a second while playing, which is rare for me, this is also one of the only games I've played that have managed to make me sob like a newborn child the whole time while playing. while it not might be everyone's cup of tea, it certainly is mine. many thanks to all involved in this project for bringing such a wonderful story to life.

“喪失”を伴う美しいボーイズ・ラブ・ストーリー あまりに素晴らしかったのでitchでクリア済みな上でSteamでも購入。 itch版にはないフォント変更機能とテキスト一括表示機能がありがたい。 Steam版限定のアートブックはローカルファイルから閲覧可能。ネタバレなのでプレイ後に確認してください。 「ホラー」タグが先頭にあるが、死がモチーフになっている程度で、「ロマンス」要素の方が圧倒的に高い。ジャンプスケアなし。題材的に「ダーク」ではある。 伏線や説明はしっかり行われた上で[spoiler]オープンエンド[/spoiler]な結末のため、先入観なく読んでほしい。つまり、レビューはあまり読まない方がいい！ 悲しみを伴うが、題材の扱いは安易でもセンセーショナルでも露悪ではない。一方で、保身的な教訓じみた感動ポルノでも話でもない。世界の終わりにお互いを見つけて思い合う二人の男性による、やさしくて美しいラブ・ストーリーです。 プレイ時間は初見4.5h、2周目4h程。ネイティブやスキルチェックが得意な人はもう少し短くなると思われる。 個人的には休日の前日、少なくとも半日はクリア後に時間的余裕が取れるときにプレイするのをおすすめします……。 RPG Maker作品だが、戦闘はなく、簡単なコマンド入力によるミニゲームと会話劇で構成されている。 ミニゲームは、プレイ時間のかさ増しや、お飾り要素ではなく、“トラウマ・クリーナー”の題材通り、きちんと“ゲーム”の体裁を保っている。バリエーションは段階的に増え、難度は緩やかに上昇していき、ゲームループが単調にならないよう工夫されている。また、構成やテンポの上でも「故人と向き合う時間」「二人が一緒に過ごす時間」「会話の間」として有機的に機能している。 会話中、メニューは開けなくなるが、バックログはQで確認できる。 グラフィックはシンプルで特出した要素ではないものの、該当場面にて、とてつもない視覚的効果を発揮していて悲鳴を上げてしまった(恐怖由来ではない)。[strike]あんなことしちゃいけないと思う……。[/strike](していいです！！ 本当に美しいR-18G。10/10！！！ とはいえ、この作品は暴力的であからさまなショッキングさに頼った展開は一つもない。信仰や義務、生きる意味と向き合い、丁寧に積み重ね、やさしさや愛といった希望に意味を見出し、その結果に伴う痛み、それらと全力で真摯に向き合った先にある[spoiler]無常と因果[/spoiler]──。 キャラクター同士の関係性、その変遷と同時に変わり、揺らぐ価値観や認知、それによって明かされていく過去と秘密、二人が親密になるにつれて語られる世界観(舞台設定にはコロナ禍の世相が反映されていると思う)。 そして、何より本当に素晴らしいクオリティのBLです。 エンディングで頭が痛くなるほど泣いた。寝込んで翌朝に目が覚めたときも心が砕けそうだった。翌日も思い出して泣いてしまった。 プレイしてよかった。

This game is too emotional. The pacing was just nice, and I took my time in completing the story. I am devastated and heartbroken at the story, but I love every second of it. I don't have any nitpicking at the narratives, since I just like immersing myself when I'm reading. It is overall a good game. :D

I had initially bought this game because it was reminiscent of RPGMaker games that I had played in the past (Ib, Witch's House, Corpse party, etc.) and I was curious about the content of the game. However, what I got out of the game was worth so much more than what I had purchased. Even though the game takes place in a world currently undergoing a form of the apocalypse, the story between the two characters was incredible. There was compassion and love, there was anger and resentment. There was a balance in the whole story that made everything so worth the read. The game itself is very laid-back with how the minigames were styled, with there being only a few different ways of cleaning. This isn't really a game you would play for the cleaning though. If you really wanna clean a house, go play Hose Flipper. This is the kind of game you would play for the story, and man I really wish there was more. I would love to see sequel to this game, one that describes more the apocalypse and maybe explores a new world where everyone is reborn? It likely would be too much to ask for, but I really hope there ends up being a second game. Either way, this game was very worth the play since everything was well worth it. Absolutely worth the dollar I spent on it and more.
