The Bench

Interesting at first, but soon you realize how bad the game really is. Performing acts in the game is just not intuitive. Once you get a feel for it, it's still awkward. And 0MG don't get me started on the pigeon sounds and animations, as well as a very limited sound track that really grate on your nerves after a while. Plenty of bugs throughout this game, even 8 months after launch. Characters and objects can get stuck, forcing you to exit to menu to reset things. Then when you do continue your game, other items you wanted to remain changed (such as hedges trimmed/cut) respawn again. You could perform this to knock the same character down the steps over and over again for all eternity. Not to mention the connect-the-dots games that have rules but then somehow fail to adhere to those rules if you don't proceed the way the developers expected. Also, some stamps are missed permanently, meaning you have to start over if you're trying to get Steam achievements. But that's not the worst aspect of this game... The puzzles are just guessing games to find out what the game wants in order to proceed. Just like rolling dice or throwing darts in the dark, hoping to hit something. They are only casually strung together for their logic, and many seem out of place for the overarching theme. They're not interesting or challenging puzzles, just boring ones without much thought that went into their design. They are relatively easy, but more importantly they're just tedious. Most of the puzzles hold your hand when you hover over things with your cursor to perform actions to continue your progression. What makes me cringe the most about the puzzles is that they don't really have much purpose at all. They're just strung together to make content. And the cutscenes you encounter by clicking on red post boxes (yes, it's a British developer) are lame... really, really lame. No animation, actual series of low quality art along with a poorly written dialog that will make you groan. Not even cute or cozy. It starts with a pair of spies talking to each other. Yeah, the connection will be made later, but it's just so out of place. Throughout the game you'll also encounter spies dressed all in black and some sort of conspiracy wannabe narrative that doesn't even try to be mildly interesting. I'm all for cozy games and indie developers, but The Bench doesn't deliver much at all beyond tedious gameplay. I didn't stop playing because I got bored (although I got bored quickly), but rather I stopped playing because it was just an annoying, tedious romp. Low quality graphics for a game that tries too hard to be cute, cozy, and edgy at the same time, while failing at becoming any of those things.

Pensant jouer à un petit jeu tranquille avec des pigeons, j'ai été vite surpris du tunnel monstre que m'a mis le jeu, j'ai adoré les deux premiers niveaux, les énigmes sont relativement simples pour la plupart et d'autres demande plus de réflexions ce qui rend l'aventure agréable avec quelques difficultés qui donne un petit challenge. L'envie d'explorer tous les bancs possibles de la map est vraiment très forte avec une vraie sensation d'accomplissement quand on arrive à trouver le chemin. Malheureusement mon épopée bancesque s'est terminé un peu prématurément à cause d'un bug, lors du troisième niveau une porte nécessite un certain nombre de pigeons, savant que j'en avais loupé au niveau 2, je suis retourné les chercher et à mon retour au niveau 3 l'interaction avec la porte a disparu. J'ai essayé beaucoup de solutions sans succès d'autant plus que 2 œufs d'or respawnais en boucle à chaque fois que je redémarrais le jeu. Je suis un peu attristé de ne pas pouvoir continuer ce jeu qui est vraiment super et j'espère qu'une prochaine MAJ résoudra mon problème pour que je puisse de nouveau continuer le jeu en stream. Sans trop en dire, je m'attendais à une aventure pépère d'un papi avec ses copains les pigeons.... Et bien j'ai été surprise de beaucoup de choses !! Le jeu reste vraiment adorable dans sa direction artistique, les pigeons sont vraiment TROP MIGNONS (et pourtant IRL j'aime vraiment pas ça, les pigeons), et d'ailleurs l'intégration Twitch est un vrai + pour le stream ! Je ne vais pas trop en rajouter parce que c'est une aventure à vivre et je ne veux rien vous spoil; franchement foncez, j'ai adoré mon expérience !!! 들고 가는 스토리에 비해 스토리 비중이 좀 아쉬운 게임.... 이런 스토리를 가져 갈거였으면 퍼즐을 좀 더 줄이고 스토리에 더 치중 했으면 좋지 않았을까 생각하는데 퍼즐 비중이 꽤 많아서 약간 아쉽다고 생각했는데 CPU 먹는양 보고 생각이 바뀜. 굉장이 단조롭고 간단해 보이는 그래픽에 게임인데 꽤나 많이 잡아 먹고 가는데 원래 게임들 중에 CPU를 주로 먹는 게임들과도 동등할 정도로 꽤나 많이 잡아먹어서 실망했습니다. 가격값을 하나 라고 말하면 스토리나 게임 퍼즐들 각종 서브 미션 등등 컨텐츠는 다양하고 많아서 돈값은 합니다. 근데 저와 같은 생각을 할 사람은 조금은 있지 않을까 합니다. (그리고 한글번역이 괜찮긴 한데 약간 이상한 부분이 있어요. "~~을" 이라고 번역 되야할게 "~~올" 이라 번역 되어있어요 그리 크진 않지만 약간 거슬리게 번역 되어있어요)

Quelle belle surprise ! Je sais désormais que la vie d'un vieux monsieur assis sur un banc entouré de pigeons n'est pas aussi tranquille qu'on pourrait le croire ! Je m'attendais à un jeu très calme mais il se révèle finalement assez chaotique, et j'ai été prise de quelques fous rires. La DA est adorable, les énigmes et puzzle sont bien faits sans pour autant être trop difficile (possible que cela se corse par la suite, je n'ai pas encore terminé le jeu). Il y a une trame narrative que j'ai envie de continuer à explorer. Il y a énormément de choses à faire, pas de quoi s'ennuyer, je n'ai pas vu le temps passer. Gros point bonus pour l'intégration Twitch facile à mettre en place qui permet d'inclure nos viewereuses dans l'aventure. Une aventure haute en couleur avec nos petits amis à plumes. La DA est colorée et très mim's. J'ai beaucoup aimé les défi présentés par le jeu mais aussi l'exploration mis en avant par celui-ci. Je ne l'ai remarqué que trop tard mais l'intégration Twitch est vraiment sympathique !
