About

The action puzzle game "TETRIS® THE GRAND MASTER" first appeared in game arcades in August 1998, and became a beloved game for gamers as a Tetris game packed with addictive elements.
Then, "TETRIS THE ABSOLUTE THE GRAND MASTER 2" was released in 2000, and "TETRIS THE GRAND MASTER 3 -Terror Instinct-" was released in 2005. The latest in the series, "TETRIS THE GRAND MASTER 4 -ABSOLUTE EYE-", will be available on Steam for the first time in 20 years.

This time, "TGM4" offers players a deeper, more strategic Tetris experience, and the depth of the game will satisfy even experienced players. New modes have been added, and this game will test your skills to the limit, requiring precise strategy and fast play.
Of course, there are also modes that even beginners to Tetris can enjoy, and the game is so full of charm that you will find yourself retrying it over and over again.
The sound is handled by Shinji Hosoe, who is well known for the TGM series. His music, full of tension and excitement, will increase the player's concentration and make the game even more exciting.
*Players can compete against each other in local play.

We will introduce the game modes available in "TETRIS THE GRAND MASTER 4 -ABSOLUTE EYE-".

MARATHON: This is a traditional Tetris mode where you compete for the highest score.
- Operation Type: STANDARD

NORMAL: This is a traditional Tetris mode where you compete to clear lines in the fastest time.
- Operation Type: TGM

ASUKA: This mode is recommended for intermediate players. Tetriminos will drop at top speed, so place them quickly to clear lines and compete to see how high you can level up within the time limit.

Additionally, ASUKA mode comes with a backstep function. By using the rewind feature, you can revert a placed Tetrimino back to the moment before it landed and try again.

MASTER: This is a challenging mode designed for advanced players where all of your Tetris skills will be put to the test. Strive to level up as much as possible. Tetriminos will drop at maximum speed right from the start, so stack them carefully to clear lines. Use every technique at your disposal—like T-Spins and All Clears—to take on the challenge.

KONOHA: This mode features big blocks. Every time you achieve an All Clear, you unlock a bonus illustration. Early on, a guide will appear to help you complete All Clears, and whenever you pull one off, a bonus illustration will be revealed.

You can view all unlocked visuals in the KONOHA Character Gallery. Try to unlock every character!

SHIRANUI: In this mode, you’ll face off against CPU opponents. Defeat CPUs with different strategies as you aim to conquer the highest difficulty level.

When you defeat a CPU, several new levels are unlocked. Generally, the higher the difficulty (Tier), the tougher the CPU. Plus, under certain conditions, a hidden difficulty may appear…!?

this game is like having a woman twice your height kick you in the stomach and spit on your face before begging you not to leave her good for people who are already big fans of tetris
I Love TGM type tetris, but this game falls short of delivering the sort of major gameplay advancements that defined installments of the earlier TGM entries, and never quite feels right to me. If you are a tetris player, and have not tried a TGM type falling block game, I absolutely think that you should: when the games challenge comes from high gravity, and low lock delay/ARE it makes for such a different experience than say Tetris 99 or tetr.io where those things are basically never a threat, and you are only ever worried about garbage/topping out. To be fair, this game does have the basic elements of TGM there at its core, but I have so many little gripes about this game, and when you are trying to find the perfect tetris experience the little gripes become big ones. Some examples: A) I prefer SRS to ARS, and I am glad they put SRS in this game, but in normal mode when using SRS there is no option to use the extra button for ARE cancelling, which makes the start of the game feel super slow. B)The grading system is more confusing than other TGM games, and also just less rewarding. There are no timer or section times to keep up with to help decrease delay times as you play. C) The modes are confusing, and none of them feel quire right to me: Normal mode (which is most like TGM master modes in previous games) after update 1.7 doesnt even have decreasing delay times as far as I can figure out, and sort of just feels sluggish the whole way through. The x modes 1.2 and 1.3 are fun resemblances of T.A. Death and T.I Shirase, but there are no fun resemblances of master modes from TGM2 or TGM3 which is a shame. The master mode istelf in this game is fun, but is again like a death or shirase mode with some extra stuff happening, not like a classic master mode. I think I am just quite upset that the normal mode is so bad. In addition to the problems I have with the game, there just isnt anything this game does which goes above and beyond to advance the genre. There is the frozen mountain part in master mode which kinda forces you to play a bit higher on the board, but that feels like more of a fun gimmick. With each previous iteration of TGM there was some major mechanical advancement to the game, such as the introduction of sonic drop/ lock in TGM2 or the introduction of the hold in TGM3, but here there is no major advancement here. In the many years since TGM 3 fan games have come up with significant advancements, the biggest being 180 degree spins, but this did not make it into the game. SRS-X with 180 spins and sonic drop/ lock is sort of a cult standard that many of us became accustomed to with HEBORIS or NULLPOMINO (both still good options for TGM type games), and it feels strange to return to basically TI-world rule set but get robbed of your ARE cancelling button. The long and short of it is this: I love TGM, and you should try it if you have not, but for a variety of reasons I suggest that you should just download Cambridge (or one of the aformentioned games) instead, for free.

After playing this with an arcade stick other Tetris games are completely unsatisfying. Insane to me this isn't the default Tetris rule set.
Who in their right mind is paying 33,99€ for a tetris game? I don't know anyone. For the rest of us, this is the best tetris you can find today. A long antipated and worthy successor to the classic arcade versions, perfect for existing "Tetris: The Grand Master"-junkies and wannabes as well. Sporting multiple game modes, neat graphics, good controller support and the soundtracks we love. Game features a lot of different modes and settings to customize it to play as you like and add artificial difficulties to your hearts content. Coming from the classic TGM/TGM2+ here (I even own both physical arcade boards), I am not too fond of the new "standard" rotation system, 4 piece previews and and hold mechanisms introduced to modern tetris. So I set it to TGM rotation, disable hold and only show one piece of preview. Works perfectly. Totally recommend to anyone wanting to experience what real Tetris really is about.
For those complaining about how hard the game is, it's supposed to be. This isn’t NES/Game Boy Tetris and is geared towards skilled players although it’s accessible to beginners too. There is a nice variety of gameplay including multiplayer but on your own, the modes that start slow & easy get fast and hard quickly (the sooner you learn how to use the Hold feature the better!) Having played prior TGM entries in arcades, this one is true to the franchise and Tetris as a whole. Just be aware you will be challenged right away, but if you’re an advanced or expert Tetris player this one is for you. If you’re new to or not good at Tetris, find another version and get comfortable & learn how to play then come back for thos one
Always wanted to try out TGM3. Sad it still hasn't gotten a port, but this is the next best thing 🔥 I can safely say that this is the best version of Tetris that you can get on a modern console, and I find it criminal that it hasn't gotten more buzz
Very addicting and fun version of Tetris that keeps me coming back and improving my times and beating my personal records. If you wish to challenge yourself, please give this game a shot, especially after it received a price cut. Please go and support Arika. Get this game, either on PC or Switch. Or get TGM1 and TGM2 on Switch/PS4 for cheap. It is well worth the price of admission. Thank you Miharasan, for releasing TGM4 after all these years.

Really solid and complete experience for the TGM series. Wish dual mode had an items mode, and there was a multiplayer peer-to-peer mode
