Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge

Shredder's Revenge is a treat. Playing this game feels like traveling back in time to an early 90's arcade machine. The pixel art, visuals, and sound are punchy and full of life. The intro blasts through your speakers and feels like the theme song to a Saturday morning cartoon. The vibes in Shredder's Revenge are exceptional. What is also exceptional is the gameplay. As an adult, I often find myself getting a little bored with the beat-'em-up Turtle games of the past, namely TMNT II and TMNT III on the NES. Shredder's Revenge, however, expands on those games in all the right ways. The number of combos and moves is just right. There aren't so many that the combat ever becomes overwhelming, but there are enough to keep you interested throughout every encounter. Hacking and slashing your way through a room or level while taking minimal damage is thoroughly satisfying and rewarding. The character level-up system also adds a welcome little hit of dopamine as you progress. The game is decent on your own, but it's really an experience you should share with someone else. I've been playing Shredder's Revenge with my 5 year old on the chill difficulty, and we're both still having a great time. The game supports up to six players simultaneously, which I haven't tried yet, but sounds like an absolute blast. If you're a Turtle fan or a beat 'em up genre fan, you've got to give Shredder's Revenge a try. It's absolutely worth it.

Fantastic throwback to the original arcade game. If you liked those, you'll love this, as it's similar in feel/look, but more updated with controls and general content. Some characters feel harder to play for sure than others, but it gives you a lot to play with. Hope to see more content released for expanding story mode even more.
