Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 26: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.22/day in the week to Aug 4 → 2.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

An absolute masterpiece. It's very easy to see right away why Tactics Ogre has the reputation it does as one of the best games ever made. As is typical for Japanese games of this era, the polish is just on another level. I haven't played the previous releases, so I can't really compare them. I understand why many dislike the addition of the buff cards, as they certainly add a lot of visual clutter. However they do discourage turtling and have the effect of speeding up fights the longer they drag on, which I assume was the intended purpose and I don't mind that at all. The party level system and removing random encounters both sound like improvements over the original. The Tarot rewind mechanic can be fully ignored, which I recommend doing. Regardless of how one feels about the changes, it should be said that none of them are remotely significant enough to "ruin the game" as some overly dramatic reviewers have claimed. What I especially like about the re-release are the high definition UI, the overhead view and the ample help and lore features. I've read through all of it so far, and not only are the descriptions and tooltips extremely helpful in figuring out the mechanics and details of the items and abilities without needing to google anything, they also add a lot of nice world building and character detail that isn't necessary to enjoy the game, but I really appreciate. Unsurprisingly it's a perfect fit for the Deck, having been previously released on the PSP.
Tactics Ogre Reborn is genuinely fantastic — deep, rewarding, and suspiciously familiar to anyone who spent their youth with Final Fantasy Tactics. The developers clearly have a type. What they apparently don't have is someone to write a proper tutorial, because you are largely on your own here. The bosses will also humble you repeatedly and without apology. Love the game, fear the bosses, and good luck figuring the rest out yourself.
Well designed and addictive although often frustrating due to some strange changes in difficulty and balancing. Still a classic for fans of tactical Japanese RPGs. Works great on Steam Deck.
They added a bunch of arbitrary changes to this, but almost none of them are good. The only good change in this "remake" was reverting to the PS1 style of each character having their own level. Battles are tedious and there's an extreme amount of HP bloat that basically forces you to play a specific way in which you stack debuffs on a target before hitting it, or otherwise beat on it for 10 turns in a row. Your own units get HP bloat as well, and the AI isn't smart enough to use debuffs so it just becomes a tedious waiting game where your own units are never in any danger rather than anything truly tactical. The level cap is another problem. The game is trivially easy with or without the cap. The only form of "difficulty" is number bloat and the cap only exists to make sure the enemy always has bigger numbers than you. Unfortunately, the AI is still incredibly stupid, so it doesn't actually give it much advantage and rather just drags fights out due to bloated stats. Finally, the cards. Whoever thought tacking a ton of RNG into a game that markets itself as tactics must have been smoking something truly special. The sad truth is that this is the worst version of this game. The original PS1/SNES version is superior in every way, unless you're particularly interested in the post game content added by the PSP version in which case you're better off just playing that.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with all of the negative reviews saying the level cap ruins the game because it does. At first I thought it was a cool idea to keep the game challenging, so that you couldn't simply out-grind story missions. However, not only is it limiting to the point it makes some story battles extremely difficult if you are not properly kitted or prepared (discouraging experimenting with builds/characters) but it also makes the game take 2-3x longer than it needs to be. Damage values are typically low (with the exception of some ability synergies) and enemy HP is very high, turning what should be a straight forward TRPG into an almost MMO like grind between healing and slowly whittling away at enemy HP bars. If you were allowed to level up classes, characters, and skills outside of the level cap, you could potentially reduce the length of battles through power scaling. In a way, this would trade overly long story battles for a 'grind at your own pace' system that encouraged experimentation and more satisfying game play. Unfortunately, the level cap forces you into a linear system of play that, IMO, ruins what makes the game interesting in favor of what makes the game boring and unfun.
几十年历史,几次改版,如今重制重温。可惜游戏公司与制作人早已分道扬镳,这宏达的世界观是没有后续的了。
