Lost on Steam EP. 36
This is one of the 3 featured games in the weekly Sunday show. An unboxing for video games! You can watch the highlights of this game and the two others featured this week here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_CboVqmXXQ [Thoughts and First Impressions] Super Toy Cars two is an interesting game. First off let me say that I love the design of the stages and the world. Racing around the garden and seeing that crosshatched green garden hose being 100x larger than your car is a neat feeling. I enjoyed that part of the game. What I unfortunately did not enjoy was the actual racing and combat. Let's start with the items. You have maybe 5 or 6 items that you can get from the powerup blocks as you race and none of them really FEEL good. The missiles that you get often don't lock-on to enemies at all, running directly into the ground or a wall immediately after firing. The speed item often makes you go too fast for these small tracks with tight turns that you just slam into walls. The bowling ball is only good if racers are RIGHT in front of you because it has no tracking. The AoE shockwave... works well and is fun to use. You get my point. As for the driving physics themselves, it feels as though most cars were given less than stellar turning and they force you to use an odd braking / drift system that doesn't always work super well in order to get around corners. In fact, with the default car you CAN'T get around the track without using it so if you were looking for an easy to pick up racing game, this ain't it. I just can't get over the need for the odd drift mechanic in a kids-like game. It just really ruined the experience for me. What happened to games like Mario Kart where that mechanic was only an addition to the fun, instead of a requirement? tl;dr - Game means well but falls short. a ideia e boa, + precisa melhorar muita coia
Super Toy Cars 2, developed and published by Eclipse Games, is an arcade racer built around a simple but enduring fantasy: turning everyday spaces into oversized racetracks for miniature cars. It embraces a playful, toy-like identity, placing players in environments where kitchen counters, school desks, and outdoor picnic setups become sprawling circuits filled with obstacles and hazards. The result is a game that prioritizes fun and accessibility over realism, offering a fast-paced experience that feels immediately familiar while still carrying its own sense of charm. The driving mechanics sit firmly in the arcade category, focusing on responsiveness and ease of control rather than simulation. Cars accelerate quickly, cornering is tight, and drifting plays a central role in maintaining speed and gaining an edge during races. Mastering this drift system becomes essential, especially as tracks become more demanding and opponents more aggressive. While the handling is generally smooth, it occasionally feels inconsistent during collisions or when interacting with certain environmental elements, which can disrupt the flow of a race in unpredictable ways. Track design is one of the game’s standout features. Each location transforms ordinary objects into large-scale obstacles, giving races a sense of creativity and variety. Players might find themselves weaving between utensils on a kitchen table or navigating cluttered desk spaces where books and stationery create narrow pathways. These environments are visually engaging and help differentiate each race, though the overall structure of the tracks remains relatively straightforward. Over time, while the themes stay fresh, the layouts can begin to feel somewhat repetitive in how they challenge the player. The game offers a range of modes that extend beyond simple races. Career mode provides a sequence of events that gradually introduce new challenges, including elimination rounds and time-based objectives. Combat elements are also integrated into the gameplay, allowing players to use power-ups or directly disrupt opponents. This adds a layer of unpredictability, as races are not just about speed but also about managing the chaos created by other competitors. These additions keep the gameplay dynamic, though they don’t drastically change the core loop. Progression is tied to unlocking new vehicles and upgrading their performance. Each car has its own characteristics, encouraging players to experiment with different options to find a style that suits them. However, the customization system remains fairly simple, offering incremental improvements rather than deep personalization. While this keeps the game approachable, it also limits the sense of long-term progression, as upgrades do not significantly alter how the game is played. Visually, Super Toy Cars 2 maintains a bright and colorful aesthetic that reinforces its toy-inspired concept. The cars are well-designed, and the environments are detailed enough to feel lively without becoming cluttered. The overall presentation is consistent, though it occasionally lacks the polish seen in more refined arcade racers. The soundtrack adds energy to the experience, complementing the fast pace of the races without becoming intrusive. Where the game truly excels is in its multiplayer component. Local split-screen races bring out the best in its design, turning its chaotic elements into moments of shared excitement. Competing against friends makes the unpredictability of the gameplay feel intentional rather than frustrating, and it adds a layer of replayability that the single-player experience struggles to maintain on its own. In contrast, solo play can begin to feel repetitive over time, as the core mechanics and structure remain largely unchanged. Despite its strengths, the game’s limitations are noticeable. The lack of deeper systems, combined with occasional inconsistencies in physics and collision handling, prevents it from reaching the level of polish seen in top-tier arcade racers. The experience is enjoyable in short bursts, but it can lose momentum during longer sessions, particularly for players seeking more variety or complexity. In the end, Super Toy Cars 2 is a lighthearted and accessible racing game that delivers on its core idea without overcomplicating it. It captures the fun of miniature racing through imaginative environments and straightforward mechanics, making it easy to pick up and enjoy. While it may not offer the depth or refinement needed for long-term engagement, it succeeds as a casual, entertaining experience—especially when shared with others. Rating: 7/10
A marked improvement over its predecessor, and shows a lot more originality. Still not the most amazing game out there but still a pretty fun Hot Wheels-like.

Egészen igényes a grafikai összetétel.
Good game! Really fun but needs more online players, otherwise really good. Love the customizable soundtrack and levels.
Borzalmasan gyenge a grafika, nem látni a pályákat. Rossz az irányítás. Ebben a formában az első rész nyomába sem ér. Nagyon gagyi játék!
