Anyone who can fully complete and publish a game is incredibly dedicated to the craft. Even more so with this game, seeing how inspired it is. This isn't some shovelware slop churned out with free assets in a week — it clearly took months, maybe years of work to get fully completed, probably while juggling a full-time job. All this being said, Super Arter is a bold, experimental, and unapologetically challenging experience. There are many aspects of this game that make it stand out from typical platformers. It’s cryptic, demanding, and designed with a very specific audience in mind — those who thrive on trial-and-error gameplay and love dissecting tough mechanics. It’s not afraid to push players to their limits. Giant leaps of faith, instant projectiles, and puzzle loops that require precision and memory — these aren’t flaws for some, they’re features. The game doesn’t hold your hand, and that’s part of its identity. Enemy behavior is unpredictable and fast-paced. Penguin? Slides toward you instantly — a surprise that teaches you to stay alert. Boss 2’s ground attack? Immediate — you learn to anticipate and adapt. You’re not just solving puzzles or platforming, you’re mastering a system that rewards perseverance and memorization. It’s not for everyone, but for those who enjoy this style, it’s deeply satisfying. The game really starts to shine at the beginning of world 4. The use of throwable swings and object juggling to reach the exit is clever and engaging. It’s a glimpse into the developer’s creativity and shows how the mechanics can evolve in interesting ways. The sword’s attack patterns are intense, and while they can feel overwhelming, they’re consistent with the game’s philosophy: learn through failure, and overcome through mastery. The main adventure is concise, with around 30 levels. That’s not a downside — it keeps the experience focused. Each world explores a core idea, and while the layouts vary, the repetition serves to reinforce the mechanics. The soundtrack is minimalistic, with themes that give each world its own identity. Visually, the game has a unique charm. The completed sprites look great, and while some tiles are simple, they give the game a retro, abstract feel. The final boss screen instantly brought back memories of the golden classics from the Super Nintendo and Game Boy Advance era.There’s something endearing about that. The ideal audience for Super Arter is clear: fans of Mario vs. Donkey. Super Arter is, without a doubt, a true spiritual successor. It offers a unique and unforgettable experience.
