no combat, cant defend yourself against enemies, Lots of bugs, understandably for early access but not at all equivalent to sub 1 as far as gameplay goes. All the background semantics definitely got in the way of this games creation.
Look, for a game with no map the UI is crap and is designed to make you lost. This is the same as the first game but now the novelty of having no idea where you are is over. Just leaving the tadpole means you may never see it again as the UI makes no attempt to guide you where it is. Multiplayer is awful as its not easy to actually find people at all then meet up with them. The amount of times i have died in a cave because i cant even find the vehicle i just left is numerous and i can no longer be bothered to keep going...
No where close as good as the original Subnautica. Beat the early access with only 24 hours of play.. game is lacking in every way - definitely feels like it was rushed to get their 250 mil bonus, and then no other content to be delivered.. games is 1/8 of what it should be, for right now, I would not recommend this incomplete game, it's no where near as fun or in depth as the original.
The biggest letdown for me in Subnautica 2 is the complete absence of underground tunnel systems. In the original, those sprawling cave networks and depth layouts gave the game its sense of mystery and danger. Using the scanner room to map out caves hundreds of meters down was one of the most rewarding parts of exploration. Here, that whole layer of gameplay feels stripped away, and without it the world feels flatter and less immersive. For a sequel, I expected them to build on that depth, not remove it.
I would like to start this review with a disclaimer, i enjoyed my about 12 hour playthrough greatly, and i have all the faith that it will grow up to be a worthy sequel. but here in early acces, it isn't there yet. I adore the multiplayer support and integration, it is simple and quite streamlined. although there was one thing i was looking forward too with multiplayer that isn't in the game yet. large vehicles, the game has only a single vehicle at the time of writing, the tadpole. although it does have its haul and wing chassis's. these don't work great in multiplayer and i found myself not really paying attention while shotgunning, since my camera views were so limited i couldn't even really look for leviathans while we drove. and there were no other things to do. the game also feels very empty, although i realize the original ''suffered'' from this as well, it feels like the spaces between usefull places are very large, open and unintresting. I also missed the biome diversity granted by the island and lost river around the end of the first game. But its quite clear this will be added later. I kept myself entirely unspoiled on the creatures in this game, and so did my friend with whom i played this game. that made our first encounters with most creatures an absolute thrill. although a thrill that quickly wore off when i realized how most enemies deal negligeble damage (unless they straight up eat you). which for a game this centered around death in its plot, made death a rarity. so my final thoughts about this games gameplay: food and water are trivial, which is in my opinion great. enemies, while scary are no real threat. and the game is a bit lacking in content (especially for 30 euro's). I will not be keeping up with this game, so i can have the joy of playing it again when it fully releases
It's an unfinished cash grab. Between the inability to defend yourself from wildlife that wants to eat you, and the draconian EULA, I cannot recommend this game. This game was released in a buggy mess, half the content is missing, the only released it so they could get their bonus. This feels like an AI slop addition to subnautica 1.
Not a fun game. Quite bland and lacking content or creativity.
Game is way to woke. They talk about diversity yet with 6 characters there are 4 Black? 2 girls, 2 boys. 1 Asian girl and 1 white boy. That's not even, that's not diverse. The game also removed key features that made it more fun to play and easier to deal with certain situations, yet the game wants to completely ignore the players ability to protect its self. The game focuses on things only few players want verse the the majority. This way of making games and movies has proven time and time again to not work in the long wrong. They fired the original staff over anti-woke beliefs and now continue to make a game in that way. Woke has ruined movies and games and should stop. Way to ruin an awesome game over stupid crap like this.
this game is fun but it also terrible good idea put into action terribly theres danger but you dont get scared like you use to no fear factor in it plus cant kill things 5/10
I picked this up thinking it was going to be Subnautica.. instead its a neutered weakened version of the game. Its not survival and exploration, its some twisted subversion to this alien world at the expense of the humans that arrive. You cannot kill or harm anything even in self defense. Your player must die to ensure no fishies are not hurt.
