About
Grab your pickaxe. Tighten your beard. Try not to blow up the kingdom.
Stonewards is a solo and 1-4 player co-op first-person roguelite defense game where a band of battle-ready dwarves leaves their base camp to answer distress calls from nearby dwarven kingdoms. Each mission sends you to a threatened stronghold on the edge of disaster. Your job is simple: dig fast, forge smart, and defend like your beard depends on it.
Monsters are coming. The walls are cracking. The horn is about to sound.
After each wave, rush into procedurally generated mines to gather precious metals, rare materials, and whatever shiny rocks look important enough to steal. Explore twisting tunnels, uncover hidden caves, and haul your loot back before the next attack begins.
Take too long, and your friends will be defending the kingdom one dwarf short.
And yes, they will complain about it.
A dwarf without a forge is just an angry short man with excellent facial hair.
Between waves, spend your mined resources to craft arrows, repair defenses, and unlock randomized upgrades. Stack raw strength, strange powers, tougher walls, or trust your team’s latest “brilliant” plan. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
The monsters have one goal: breach the stronghold and bring the kingdom down.
Hold the walls, cover the gates, coordinate with your crew, and use every crafted tool at your disposal. When the enemy pushes through your outer defenses, fall back, regroup, and remind them why attacking a dwarven stronghold was a terrible idea.
If the kingdom falls, the mission is over.
If you survive, drink later. Dig now.
1-4 Player Co-op & Solo - Rally the crew or go full lone-dwarf. Whether you fight alone or with up to three friends, the monsters are coming either way.
Answer the Call of the Dwarven Kingdoms - Travel from your base camp to defend nearby dwarven realms against incoming monster attacks. Each mission is a desperate stand for survival.
Mine the Mountain - When the wave ends, the clock starts. Dive into procedural mines, gather valuable resources, and get back before the next horn sounds.
Stockpile & Forge - Bring your loot back to craft arrows, repair walls, and unlock randomized roguelite upgrades that shape each run.
Hold the Line - Take your place on the walls, defend the stronghold, and stop the horde before they overwhelm the kingdom.
Dig Deep. Forge Hard. Defend Harder.

It's fine, but the single-player tag is a lie. There's no adjustment for if your'e playing 1 or 4 - same thing. Like saying a game of soccer doesn't matter how many people play on your team. If you play single player, will be like playing the world cup vs Argentina and you're alone in the goal. I don't really like this new age of hive-mind games which are just sort of semi-thought-out click-soaks for terminally online discord bro-groups. I don't think you should have to game by quorum. There's no interesting team work mechanics either - you all just run around doing the same thing in same area. Which, okay, not a great strat or my cup of tea? Fine. But simple bugs like a mob getting stuck somewhere basically ends your run. Sure, I could endless mine the pit (also not great) but Icould not progress, because of the spongy tee-hee-lawl physics implementation - doomed forever to listen to a goblin grunting somewhere in the walls on wave 8. Not only is it a game breaking bug that should have had a simple timer/timeout catch, but it also forced me to take a break from the 'loop' such as it is and realize I was essentially spending time mining a single minecraft chunk.

It's rather fun and promising but mostly unplayable in solo. Enemies move faster than player, they attack immediately when within range, and have almost same attack range as player, so the only way to kite them is to approach, block, then deal 2-3 hits and block again. The problem is that when there are 3 enemies they can chain attacks to leave you no opening or deplete tour stamina and deal devastating damage. Even worse when there's a pack of smaller enemies and the only option is to repeatedly hit attack while running backwards hoping you don't lose too much health. Any run where you don't get automated ballistas is doomed because later waves have so much enemies that you physically can't kill them faster than they spawn or tank even for few seconds, and when they reach the gate they stack so when they break the gate and approach you, you get a simultaneous hit from 20 mobs. Also meta progression is weird. It ressembles Megabonk where you spend meta currency to purchase unlocked characters and relics plus rerolls/banishes etc, no stat increase or other direct benefits making a run easier. Here you can also upgrade characters' health stamina and special ability. Per charachter, so if you unlock a new one it will have relatively lower health. Either make upgrades global and add more upgradeable stats like attack, movespeed and starting gear. Or completely remove stat upgrades.
Perhaps a feeling that only a few people will share. However, this game scratches an itch I've had for a minecraft minigame I used to play called Dwarves vs Zombies. Very fun.
Does absolutely everything right. I can’t imagine the games future being anything but bright. The only genuine criticism I can think of is the game might get a little repetitive after some time but the classes help leaps and bounds with different roles and specialties for combat and run progression.
a good start a bit grindy for what should be cheaper upgrades to max the characters but fun. overall it's a bit too grindy on money in some ways some small bugs but altogether fun and good start.
