Good: Voice acting, visuals. Bad: Performance, gameplay, story. If you're interested just watch it on youtube honestly, the gameplay is a nothingburger. Not worth the money, even at 50% off.
Genuinely enjoyed this game but opted to return it and buy The Sinking City for the extended gameplay the sinking city offers. This is a good game and I would recommend it though. *Did not work on current Nvidia drivers and had to roll them back to play.
Nota final: 8,7/10
First playthrough review time. Still Wakes the Deep is a horror game that mainly focuses on people changing in scary ways, strange and unknown forces, fear of tight spaces and the deep sea. You play a character who is going through a difficult time and working as part of a crew when a series of strange events starts happening. The game has a very dark atmosphere, and some of the horror visuals are quite interesting to look at even when they are disturbing and disgusting. The story is good, and the dialogue is written well. The main character is likeable, and the conversations between the crew add more character to the game. The horror is also done very well, especially the scary changes some of the characters go through. Some of the scenes are quite gross, but the details make the changes look even more disturbing. There are a few stealth sections too, although some of them can be difficult because the enemy movement is not always easy to predict. A few of these sections can get a little difficult at times. I played on Epic settings, which is the max setting, with DLSS Quality, and most of the time I was getting around 50–60 FPS. If you want more FPS, you can just turn down a few settings like Geometry Details and Post Processing from Epic to High. One small thing I noticed is that when jumping from even a medium height, the character shakes his hands and shouts as if the jump was from a much higher place. It is not a big issue, but it is something I noticed while playing. Overall, Still Wakes the Deep is a good horror game with great visuals, good writing and some disturbing moments. The gameplay includes exploration, light parkour, stealth and a few basic tasks. The different parts of the gameplay work together and keep the experience moving. The horror and atmosphere are easily the strongest parts of the game, and they are what stand out the most.
I'm proud of The Chinese Room for finally making a game that isn't sitting at Mixed for eternity. Good job, guys.
Still Wakes the Deep is, without exaggeration, the best game I have ever played. I originally played it on my PlayStation 5 and fell in love with it. Since the summer sale a couple of days ago, I decided to buy it again alongside Siren’s Rest, completing both the main game and the DLC in one day. Even after revisiting it multiple times, the endings of both still bring me to tears. The Chinese Room created something truly special here. The atmosphere, voice acting, writing, sound design, and emotional weight of the story are all incredible; it captures fear, grief, love, and humanity in a way very few games ever manage. Siren’s Rest only deepens that. I cannot recommend Still Wakes the Deep enough. It really is haunting and beautifully heart-breaking.
Still Wakes the Deep je hra, která stojí hlavně na vizuálu a atmosféře. Pokud ji nehraješ, svět se nezboří — příběh ani gameplay tě o nic nepřipraví. Grafická stránka je ale parádní.
Only 6hrs to complete. Really enjoyable game. Some people complain that it's too short, but it's not the size, it's what you do with it. Probably the best voice acting I've seen in a game. Tragic, funny, heartbreaking. Give it a go. "Remember... Jesus Loves You Caz. Everyone Else Thinks You're A C*nt."
More of a Neutral review, the environment graphics were terrific. They gave the ocean an ominous feel. The mini-games were pretty simple. But they give a little extra immersion of interacting with the rig. That's pretty much the pros. As big as the rig was supposed to be, the game was essentially on rails almost start to finish. Convenient debris or stuck doors forced you down 1 path. Lots of cliche action points. "Quick you've got to do 'X' or we're all dead." What it got wrecked 5 seconds later and we're not all dead anymore? Makes sense. The controls can be clunky at times. And the quick time indicator can be murderous. Holding RT to hang from ladder, then RT flashes again. Guess that means retrigger once? Nope, you let go and died sucker. Also, a person can either swim or not. Swimming shouldn't be a puzzle. Sure you can have an underwater maze or obstacles. Don't make the controls the obstacle. Really breaks the immersion when you need 3 different buttons and a charge move to swim successfully, especially when only certain assets are interactable. Would recommend only buying on deep sale. No pun intended.
