Unfortunately, because of the constant updating that breaks mods, along with the AI-generated DLCs and AI code, Stellaris used to be good but has become absolute trash, sadly. Multiplayer is just completely broken it just keeps desyncing and cant even play modded multiplayer.
Stellaris is a strange one for me. This is easily one of my favourite games of all time, but I can't bring myself to play it anymore, and i cannot recommend this game to anyone, under any circumstances. I can't justify the cost to buy all the DLCs needed to catch up and experience the latest stuff the creators have made, and the idea of subscribing to gain access to the DLCs has all the hallmarks of a drug dealer giving a new customer a deal in order to rope them in. I can't justify the tacit expectation that, when new DLC inevitably comes out, everything breaks. Sometimes its broken for a few weeks, sometimes for a few months, and sometimes its just broken forever. Paradox treats its customers as its beta testers, and expects its customers to pay for the privilege. None of the practices engaged by the publishers of this game is good. None of this is how i want the games industry to be. Paradox is just another EA, and has been for years at this point. I'll be putting my hours, and my money, elsewhere
Uno de esos juegos de los que nunca te cansas. Con dos puntos negativos: Demasiados DLC´s con calidad diversa y muchas veces los productos del workshop hacen que el juego vaya mal (aunque los hay muy interesantes).
Over 300$ of DLC? good god.....
Time passes, paid DLCs are churned out, systems are reworked into being completely foreign, content is left in a broken and bugged state in favor of the next cash grab. I adored this game when I started and I hardly even recognize it now. I genuinely wish I could recommend it, in the past I would have even, but now I really can't say enough that you should stay away, and be wary of the general Paradox profit model.
stellaris is a cash cow that's threatening to burst. i've reached a point where i can't recommend this to anyone. tldr; Paradox gave us something that was really good for a while and then bogged it down with incomplete releases at high prices for downloadable content that should have been in the base game. look, i LOVED this game. i played so much of it nonstop for hours and hours and hours- hours spent mainly in single player with a handful of private lobbies as well. it was fun, plain and simple; immersive, vast, and full of unknowns and with so, so much replayability. but if you look at it nowadays, there are DLCs left, right, and center with season passes for future releases, AND subscription services for if you don't want to spend, as of the time writing this, $375 USD to own your own copies of. don't get me wrong, a majority of the DLCs' added some really fun stuff that, in my opinion, should have been in the base game already, but instead of pushing it out as a patch, it's just another chance to milk consumers dry. so why is it that Paradox can't be bothered to finish their products before release date just to sell it to us at ridiculous prices for what's less than the bare minimum? the rampant greed lives on as a significant problem that's additionally punctuated by Paradox using gen AI on multiple assets and content. Paradox is a significant studio full of many talented people. why are things being relegated to AI at all? there are people that can be paid to do better work with better longevity, but that's what feeds back into the overall greed of the company. AI doesn't need to be paid. Paradox isn't footing the bills for the data centers (which is a whole other issue of ethics that isn't the topic here). if Paradox cannot be assed to make their own games, then i cannot be assed to purchase any of their products.
Over $300 for the full game??? Come on now...
Multiplayer is permanently broken since version 4... we play once a week for 2 hours. If you don't get screwed over by a new patch version and people wanting to restart, you get screwed by the game going into a broken state once it's run for too long (rarely even get to endgame without some catastrophe like slowdown or stutter). Every time we think this is going to be one. Every time we end up abandoning due to things breaking... I only have this to play multiplayer, so without that it's a bust for me, can't recommend unless this gets fixed and stays fixed for a change...
I've enjoyed this game a lot, and bought most of the previous DLCs even though they were quite expensive because I think that artists and writers deserve to get paid for their work; but I cannot justify shelling out money for someone's Chat GPT prompt. When they started stuffing AI generated slop into their product, they lost me as a customer.
