Stellaris

Stellaris is fantastic! Of course, you need to be the sort of person excited by a slow paced exploration and conquest of an entire galaxy that combines story telling, role play, and grand strategy. You also need to kiss goodby a few hundred hours of something else you could be doing if you love it as much as I do. The down-side is that the base game really isn't nearly as fun as the full expereince with the dozens of expansions bolted on to it. On the other hand, picking up elements of it gradually is a much easier way to learn than starting in the deep end with every one of the hundreds to thousands of options the game eventually throws at you. Fortuneatley, you don't need to be good at it to have fun with it. The way wars work means you often have a chance to sue for peace and continue playing, even when you are being badly outmatched, and eventually, you may find a way come from behind and end up the victor. It's a forgiving tame when all is said and done.
