Stars Die

Somewhat like playing [i]Echo Night[/i], just exchange the ghosts and visions of the past for cosmic horror, fatalism, and the human condition. Superb art direction all around, from the early PlayStation surrealist grit, to surprisingly beautiful character portraits evoking semi-realistic manga aesthetics, or: an exceptionally fitting match. The only real disappointment, is that while [i]Stars Die[/i] may verge close to greatness, it falls ever so short, just a tiny bit too sparse for its own good; another chapter and/or more exploratory exposition (i.e. the two "secret" endings) would go a long way in sparking the player's imagination further, without overstepping the genre's trademark uncertainty. It certainly wouldn't hurt in easing the rushed pacing, either.

Cryptic story with multiple endings, the dialogue is pretty good and you can skip entire conversations in order to quickly explore the other endings! Like other games of this genre I am left with more questions than answers but it was entertaining none the less! The game can take you anywhere from 1-3hrs depending on your playstyle. All Hail Denis!
