Starfield really executes well in a lot of areas that don't get talked about enough. The gunplay is excellent with a wide variety of weapon types and playstyles. An intriguing backstory adds interesting context to the universe. NPCs are the best I've seen in a Bethesda title and the side quests can be equally as interesting. I find myself willing to play the side quests more often than in Fallout/Elder Scrolls games. Ship building, weapons, and spacesuits all have deep upgrade trees. Mod support is off the charts. This game really is over-hated in my opinion. The problem this game has that its Fallout/Elder Scrolls cousins do not is the setting. While the quantity explorable planets locations is enormous, transiting between planets breaks continuity making the "world" feel small and disjointed. It's a common pitfall of open-world, space RPGs. However the post-launch addition of free lanes does a pretty good job at getting away from the "loading screen simulator" it was at launch. Bethesda really has been listening to the community and providing free quality of life updates and seems intent on supporting the title into 2027. While this game may not be for everyone it's not as bad as its made out to be and really has come a long way since launch. I think its on its way to becoming a cult classic. Especially with the fast growing modding community, this game will age well. If you like Fallout and Elder Scrolls give Starfield a try. If the loading screens bother you, instead of fast travelling everywhere, take the time to get in your ship, takeoff, and fly between planets. It adds a little bit of friction but it goes a long way in maintaining the immersion.
10/10 with mods
some great improvements in game mechanics with the difficulty leveling being the best that Bethesda has put out. Story was good with plenty of action and scares. The major difficulty was that the world space (the universe we as players were traveling in) is to empty. Where there is story and things to explore it was very good, the problem being an awful lot of empty between the excitement. That being said, the ship building was great, the various side quests were interesting and the setting was distinct. The npc's were mostly interesting and the various factions fun to explore. Not the greatest thing to come out of Bethesda, but worth the money and time. An easy one in the thumps up/plus column.
Pirated the game first because I had to upgrade my PeePee and PC first as Todd said, 3 years later I remembered the game and I bought it on discount with all the new DLC's with the creation kit now present. Its a good sandbox game with arcade-y style for a space gameplay. Coming from star citizen, I actually prefer this with a few mods. I can just imagine how good this game will be in a decade with the modders. Now this will be part of my rotation: Skyrim--> Kenshi ---> Fallout ---> Starfield ---> No rinse but repeat
its fun.
Decent game; not anywhere close to bad - as some state or suggest. Interesting universe. Only real complaint is loading screens during travel.
Have a lot of fun
