STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

This story is the Magnum Opus of Star Wars games. 10/10. No one had a single clue how good we had it when this game and the sequel came out (while still being released alongside the prequels mind you). The mods for the KOTOR games make it more enjoyable while being granted the freedom to choose how to tell our version of the story. Excited for the remake and cannot wait to play that too :)

This is an all time great game and it’s incredible to think something with this much depth came out in 2003. Yes, the combat is a little clunky but the rest of the game makes up for it. One important note though, and I cannot stress this enough… do not, I repeat, DO NOT play this game on Steam Deck. It is just straight up broken. It crashes often, it has major graphical bugs, sometimes you can’t even make it past the main menu, sometimes you literally can’t get through a cutscene without crashing. I had to use every tool at my disposal to make this game crawl across the finish line. Changing every kind of menu option available, applying new launch commands, finding community made protons for comparability, making changes to the key commands in the games .ini file, installing patches, uninstalling and reinstalling. I only made it through because I’m moronically stubborn. Do NOT make my mistake. If you’re thinking of buying this to play on Steam Deck, don’t do it.

Literally my favorite game of all time. Perfectly done positive and negative "karma" system back before that was even a thing, hidden side quests (if you haven't become a member of the Genoharadan, you obviously aren't reading the data pads you get), great story with a proper twist, open maps, the list goes on. This game has a better open world than some modern titles, and it's over 20 years old.
