Bought it on a sale to see if it really is as bad as some people make it out to be. And it really seems to be. Don't even know if the story is all that bad, but already ran into bugs and crashes early on. Maybe if they ever fix all the bugs it might be worth the sale price. They really should've just let EA handle this franchise, because clearly it's too much for Ubisoft to handle.
It's very unstable FPS, it's stuttering, jumping from 60 fps to 35 or 75+... And CPU temps over 90c also jumping up and down just mess. Game itself is decent, story is ok, views are ok, gameplay bit childish level tho. Quests navigation not the best either, can take i awhile to figure out what to do.
Equal things to love and hate about this game. Pros: -super realized and interesting world to explore. They have nailed the atmosphere of Star Wars. Cities and environments feel good to explore. -Gunplay, while simple, is solid. -the speeder is an absolute hoot to explore on. -the story is fun yet not very deep or impactful, they played it safe, but it is still enjoyable. Cons: -Stealth is heavily suggested/required through parts, yet there is basically no support for stealth gameplay, huge oversight. Can't move bodies, etc. -Gunplay is satisfying but also incredibly simple, even with the blaster upgrades no visual changes to the weapon or the ability to have other weps (besides randos you pick up for a limited time). -By the time you get to your 2nd planet you have seen the general gameplay loop. While it is fun it becomes tedious and simplistic. You can tell they just played this game too safe. 7/10. Fun worth playing if ya can get it on a steep sale. P.S. Sabbacc is super fun to play, the gambling is a lot of fun.
Positive review, HOWEVER , here´s some fun facts - I am 3 hours in and every single bartender, quest giver etc so far is female.. - the only male characters that have shown up are either aliens or droids. if not one of those, they are villains. Every single white man in the galaxy seems to be a villain. feels a lot like the "acolyte" series in that regard. these are the facts, they might bother you or they might not. however - Beautiful graphics - Phenomenal set designs , walking around the cities is fun - Big maps and fun to ride on speeder bike - fun minigames (the card game is great) - ok combat, could be better but it does its job. - ok voice acting, not great but not bad. - great photo mode - great music it´s a fun game so far...
Game is poorly optimized even 8gb graphic memory and 16 gb ram of my rog ally is strutting gameplay.
Feels like a Ubisoft copy paste game cuz it is a Ubisoft copy paste game. The good parts are the worlds and environments. The bad is everything else from the dialogue to the infinite enemy spawners.
crash too frequently
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIXjrgOoOjo Stepping into the boots of a scoundrel navigating the galactic underworld provides a fun premise, but the execution ultimately lands in aggressive mediocrity. The visual design across classic planetary hubs captures that authentic original-trilogy aesthetic really well, and your creature companion Nix adds a cute, handy dynamic to both stealth and puzzle-solving. However, the core gameplay relies on overly simplistic, mandatory stealth sections and repetitive open-world contract loops that quickly lose their appeal. Combat feels floaty with limited weapon options, and the dynamic syndicate reputation system ends up feeling more like a mechanical checklist than a living world. On the technical side, it demands heavy hardware to run smoothly without frame dips during busy town areas. It is an okay Star Wars distraction, but it never pushes past feeling thoroughly average.
Even with a massive discount, this game is not worth spending your time on. The game does not respect your time and tries very hard to artificially prolong the experience. The writers did a horrible job with the main character. The only consistently likable aspect of her character is her pet, which isn't even really about her. Yet the game seems to assume that players will automatically care about her. The strongest part of her character development is
taking away her pet
- and again, that's mostly about the pet, not her. The rest of the plot feels like a bunch of checkboxes the writers needed to close. There are very few interesting ideas or memorable character moments. The game design isn't much better. The big reputation system becomes irrelevant VERY quickly. It initially looks like it's going to be an important part of the game, but eventually it's basically just a few EXP bars you can max out and forget about. The core gameplay isn't fun either. Shooting is boring. Stealth is boring. Climbing usually feels like a waste of time rather than actual gameplay. The puzzles are fine. Slicing feels like a cool idea at first, but it's so undercooked that it becomes repetitive very quickly. It had the potential to stay relevant throughout the entire game, but never really develops into anything. Surprisingly, I think Sabacc might be the strongest piece of game design here. I genuinely like how cheating is implemented and how different abilities interact with the game. It feels like one of the few systems that actually has some personality behind it. Weirdly, it also feels like the developers themselves didn't have enough confidence in it. But the artists absolutely cooked. The game is beautiful. Some of the environments are genuinely gorgeous, and the art team did an amazing job recreating the Star Wars atmosphere. That's probably the saddest part of the whole thing, because all that incredible environmental work is attached to a game that I found painfully mediocre. Technically, though, I can't complain much. I didn't encounter many bugs during my playthrough, and certainly nothing major. Maybe a few misaligned assets here and there, but that's about it. One thing I kept thinking about while playing is that this game feels like it was VERY different during the prototype stages. This is obviously just speculation, but I refuse to believe that the current main-character-and-pet concept was the original vision from day one. A lot of the game makes much more sense to me if the original idea was a generic or customizable outlaw character in a "choose your own adventure" type of game, where your reputation and decisions actually shaped what kind of criminal you became. My guess is that at some point in development they looked at the Jedi games and decided they also needed that predefined protagonist + cute companion dynamic, and the current protagonist and her pet were built around that direction. Because right now, the main character often feels like an afterthought placed on top of systems that weren't originally designed around her. Some locations reinforce that feeling. A few of them genuinely give you several different ways to progress, almost like they survived from an earlier prototype where player choice and systemic gameplay mattered much more. But most locations just give you multiple paths so they don't look like long corridors. Sometimes they sprinkle in a puzzle or an alternative approach, but usually those paths are just another way to waste your time. The reputation system feels like another leftover from that possible earlier vision. It feels like it was supposed to be a major mechanic that shaped your character. Instead, in the final game it's basically just a few EXP bars you can max out and forget about.
