I just want to get this out there since I've seen a few negative reviews trashing this game for its design not rewarding skilled Tetris players. You can be a pro at regular Tetris gameplay and still lose regularly, because the game itself is designed around your builds and not your actual Tetris skills. The blocks you purchase after every round are themed, and each type of block compliments other blocks from its respective theme, and each theme is based around different play styles. Some are based on stacking, some are based on fast placement, and some are based on clearing single rows at a time. Depending on what your approach is depends on which theme you pick, or how you mix it with other themes. You're not going to have a good time if you approach this game as a Tetris game and not as a roguelike deckbuilder. You need to see this as another Balatro or Slay the Spire but with Tetris gameplay. I'm an avid Tetris player and I've been having a blast with this game, because it tries something new with the Tetris formula and requires the player to think outside of the box. I'm sure that the scoring system and a few mechanics need to be tweaked, but that's the norm with games like this. I hope the dev listens to the feedback and keeps this game updated in the future, because this game has a lot of potential.

If I could I would currently maybe give this game something in the middle of a yes and a no. I do really like tetris games and a roguelike tetris style game sounds like a cool idea. Sadly, currently I feel like this game is lacking a lot from both a pure game perspective and from a visual flair perspective. On the game side, roguelike + “insert game” type games can a lot of the time be very very fun games. And how these two things complement each other play a big role in how fun that game ends up being. In this game's case, my biggest gripe is that I do feel like I’m missing the fun of regular tetris. And I think I’ve read some reviews of people saying something similar. It feels kinda strange to not be encouraged to play tetris like you normally do with using the hold and stuff. And more about thinking of what piece you place. Maybe it can be fun if you fully rewire your brain to forget normal tetris. That aside, if we just talk about the added blocks with different effects. It did not really feel like I could have too much of a plan, and the best action was usually just to buy new blocks no matter what to just have more blocks to play. It’s missing something that games like (sorry to mention it) Balatro has, or Raccoin, or Dice with Death. I do believe this can be a fun cool game, but for me it kinda needs to head back to the drawing board a bit and rethink the core. Now on the visual flair angle… I hate to sound so harsh but… grey on grey on grey? Boxes with dropshadow? Like… cmon? A little more than that would be nice. Like on the visual front this looks very much like a bare bones prototype of a game to test a game idea. It’s lacking a lot of an identity and feeling. Like for example, Tetris: Effect Connected is a tetris game not maybe everyone likes, but it does feel really nice to play, and just playing tetris in a cool music visualizer in a sense just feels cool with the game reflecting what you do etc. I’m not saying you need to go that crazy with this game, but just give me some cool feedback when I clear rows that makes me wanna clear more. And something nice to look at. I don’t know how many you are working on this, or if it’s just a solo thing. So I hope I don’t sound like I’m asking for too much. Now lastly real quick, the music and sound just don’t feel like it’s made for the game. I do believe if you remake the look of the game first you can get some music that fits the visuals in mood. So, I hope this game changes over time. Currently it did not make me wanna play much more than an hour. But I do find potential in the idea and I really hope it changes to something fun. At its current state, the price is way too high for what it is. But if you read this a couple of months from now and you see big changes to the game, hay, for sure it can be worth it if not even more, who knows. But as it is it feels like a 2,5€ game.
Along the infinite quest to add Balatro's format to different proven games, Stackflow gleefully reaches Tetris and to great success. 1.0 is much improved from the Demo I played a long time ago, and I can see myself coming back to this game for a long time. Stackflow isn't as in-depth or varied as Balatro, you will see most of what the game has to offer fairly quickly, but in that smaller pool it is much easier to find your breaking points consistently and trying new combos is quick and easy. I also really like the "multiplayer" mode, which really just amounts to daily and weekly leaderboards. But it's fun to see others play around alongside you day in and day out. It also comes with some good advanced settings to finetune the Tetris part of the game to how you like to play, so you'll feel right at home! If you want a different flavor of Tetris, Stackflow is a strong option.
A great easy to pick up and play roguelite. Feels satisfying, familiar and with some depth I think. Playing on my steam deck it works great.
Going to be so honest, I didn't know that I needed rogue-like tetris until I had it and now I'm hooked.
Balatro meets Tetris, and it's amazing!!!
Great game, but there's still improvements to be made (I think this is in early access but I can't remember). Right now I'd give it a 3/5 (I did 100% complete the game btw) Initially I really loved it but as of right now there's not enough diversity and all the blocks feel the same Each block type have retriggers, ones that spread, ones that give you flow, ones that give you score, etc The shop system is honestly pretty good And for the perks. To me it's unclear when each activate, but if it's based on where they're positioned, being able to move them around would be nice
Sehr entspannend. Bin gespannt, was noch kommt :-)
