Spirit of the North 2

Story wise, just as beautiful as the original. If you liked Spirit of the North 1, This is a MUST play! If you haven't, What are you doing?! Go play the first one and come play the second! Visually, the game has vastly improved over the first game. There are new puzzles that are more challenging than the first game, plus a few sections of combat! Don't worry, most of the game is still just a fox exploring the ruins of the world like the original, but now there is more lore and a fight to save the other spirit animals! The gameplay is quite fun, and at times quite challenging, in a good way. My only 2 issues: Sometimes dear foxxo gets stuck on just going up stairs. Like some of the collision boxes for the stairs weren't set right. Not every set of stairs has this issue, but the one that REALLY needs to be fixed is in the Palace of Peace. I died during an encounter there so many times just to getting stuck on the stairs. Secondly, Sometimes when close to an edge of a platform where a running jump is required, the game does not register that I pressed the jump button. 2 simple issues, most likely with simple fixes, but I can't really complain too much, as they did not ruin the game experience for me. PS: Thank you SO much devs for the touching memorial for Mikayla Raines of SaveAFox and including Finnegan Fox as an interactable critter. For those of you who don't know about the memorial in game. It's near the ruins of the fox village, search up the short cliffs on the opposite side of the path. If you've already missed it, don't worry, you can go explore the area again later!

I really liked the first Spirit of the North, so I decided to pick up the second game and didn't quite expect what this game turned out to be. If the first Spirit of the North is the first Portal game, than Spirit of the North 2 is almost like Red Dead Redemption 2: Gorgeous scenery, a jaw dropping soundtrack, and an open world that has so much love and attention in every inch. SPOILER: [spoiler] Even the story is basically a story of redemption, with how you cleanse each guardian and even Grimnir instead of killing them. [/spoiler]. Pros: -Stunning visuals and soundtrack -Fun customization of your fox with unlockable furs and essences around the map -An open world with tons of secrets to find -A solid story that is great to engage with, but you can also simply play the game if you wish Cons: -Performance can stutter sometimes. I experience ~4 second freezes every 30 or so minutes of playtime. Occasionally, there are audio mess ups as well. -The open world isn't completely open all at once. Now, this shouldn't be a problem if you're just engaging with the story, but if you try to explore the entire map early you will find rock walls and such that prevent you from going to another region. -I love wandering around the world and exploring, but some people may feel like there isn't a lot to do once the main story is done as MOST of the explorable dungeons are used during the story.

I loved Spirit of the North and I was so looking forward to this game. The world and graphics are gorgeous, it looks like there's a really in-depth story, and after a bit of trial and error, the fox isn't too hard to control (so far - I'm not looking forward to the boss battles, if I can even get that far.) There's a really HUGE issue though. If you don't follow the correct path sequence at certain critical points - like following the raven out of the cave after Grimnir's resurrection, with the lava rising - everything just stops. Go the wrong way (and it's REALLY hard to tell where you're supposed to go!) and the raven disappears, nothing happens, and you're trapped in a limited environment with no way forward. Death just resets you to the nearest spawn, no help there. And because there's only one autosave, you now have two options. 1) Restart the entire game (Heaven help me if this happens again even later in the game!) or 2) mess about manually loading autosave files from Steam (and without knowing the exact time stamps, there's no other way to know which save is which, I've messed about a lot to find the right files). This is a SERIOUS impediment to enjoyable game play. A glitch like this should be reset at least on death, or you should have an autosave from before the critical sequence. A lovely game has been completely ruined because whenever I mess up, I know I'm going to fudge the path sequencing and have to spend a lot of trial and error reloading a prior savepoint, when the game could just have had a few 'critical juncture' fixed savepoints instead of constantly updating the autosave. I really wish I could ask for a refund, because I don't think I'm coming back to this game: but I've already played over the minimum 2 hours (which is nothing in such a large exploration game). Very, VERY disappointed. Will not be buying any further games or content from this company.

this game is relly badly optimized and after 2h of gameplay it just crashes all my pc i dont think theres relly any reason to required a top of the marquet pc to play this.. saying that if you have one i do recomend for you to buyy this game and the first one too its a very chill experience and i love it i guess i cant stay very mad about that...

Absolutely LOVED this game. Still do. It's scenic, it's large, its fun. Less of a challenge and more of a vibe.
