About
Species: Unknown is a first-person survival horror game, playable in co-op with up to 4 players (private or public servers) or solo. You play as a mercenary sent aboard an abandoned spaceship. Your job? Execute high-risk contracts, make it out alive, and claim your reward. But keep in mind that you’re not alone. Something is hunting you…
Form a squad of up to 4 players to take on different contracts with escalating difficulty. Each mission plays differently depending on your objective, your teammates, the map and which of the 5 intelligent threats is stalking you. No one survives alone, but you can try.

Proximity Chat & Radio are available: distance matters, walls matter. Proximity Chat is bringing more tension, sometimes chaos, and unforgettable moments to your co-op sessions.

Every contract drops you into a different nightmare. Whether you're tasked with extracting a black box, capturing or eliminating an unknown threat, or even destroying the ship to prevent the creature from escaping… Each mission demands a specific strategy and none of them are easy.
The specimen is chosen procedurally from a growing roster of terrifying monsters. Each one comes with distinct behaviors, hunting patterns, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll need to investigate your surroundings to gather vital clues and identify the threat in order to proceed smoothly (or not). Do your job and get rewarded, or die without anyone knowing.

Strategize as a group, make smart use of your tools that can turn the tide, if only for a moment:
Motion Tracker : Detect nearby movement and prepare for what's coming
Shield : Block deadly attacks and buy time for your team
Health Syringe : Heal yourself or allies in the heat of battle
Mini-Map : Navigate pitch-black corridors with real-time positional data
Guns won’t always save you. Some threats are too resistant or simply untouchable. But the right weapon, found at the right time, can help you push through or even take the creature down.

The higher the risk, the higher the reward. Completing contracts earns you credits you can use to:
Upgrade your gear
Buy new tools
Customize your appearance
Gather lore and build your own creature museum
Add-ons
Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.

Buy it. The optimization of this game cannot be understated - it puts AAA studios to shame. The gameplay loop is elegant and stays fresh. The monsters are unique. The upgrade paths strike the balance between significant but not game-breaking. Runs great on Linux. The challenge posed by the monsters is fairly consistent, even with their distinct behaviors. The
floating eye robot
can be trivially easy on lower difficulties, and the
zombie scorpion
can be a run-ender without the right tool to chase him away during escape sequences. I'm not a turbo pro gamer, but I would like to see the more difficult modifiers - my group of 4 has been clearing max difficulty with relatively ease. A little variety in the door-opening puzzles would also be very welcome, as it can get a little exhausting searching the labs for your sixth vial of Purple Berry Blast.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I don't even know why i bought this, i can't handle horror games. I recommend strongly though!!
мощно, очень хочется увидеть будущий потенциал игры, надеюсь не забросят игру
Played with my little brother. Watching him get eaten made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes. Didn’t quite react the same when he used me as bait to escape.
Really fun, especially if you play coop with your friends. The map is easy to remember and objectives too. There is a lot of content and for 6 GB this is well done. Of course You will encounter some bugs but it's still an early acces and the devs are working on them so it's fine. Also, There will be updates in the near future with new map and new spieces so it's progressing the right way.
