Overview
Full disclosure: I am married to one of this game's developers! That said, here is my honest review. I feel that this game fills a really excellent niche that I haven't seen much elsewhere. It delivers a mix of visual novel, simulation, and choose-your-own-adventure elements, and provides a fun what-if romp filled with parenting decisions, space colonization struggles, farm management tradeoffs. I'll go over some of the main elements below.
Overall
We'll start with the overview, then get into the details further on down. Play this game if you:

Enjoyed the first game in this series (it's free, go play it).
Generally enjoy visual novels or choose-your-own adventure stories.
Think a game about farming and parenting on a space colony sounds fun!
Don't play this game if you:

Only like the very best AAA games with tons of action and eye candy.
Think visual novels are terrible and boring.
Played the first game in the series and didn't like it.

Gameplay
Most of the gameplay is visual novel, choose-your-own adventure style: read dialog and narration, occasionally make choices about how you respond in a conversation or decide what you want to do. (For visual novel nerds, the game was built using Ren'Py, which provides an excellent baseline visual novel implementation.) Beyond that, each "year" of gameplay starts with a different interface, where you get to manage your farm, read community discussion forums, use a database to read up on information about people you know, and write poetry in a "magnetic poetry" style interface. (Occasionally, other colonists comment on your poems.) The farm management starts pretty simple, but later in the game gets a little trickier as you have to struggle to meet all of your nutrition needs while not ruining the soil, uprooting your plums, or dooming your kids to a life of working the fields when they should be doing their homework or playing with their friends. However most of the choices in the game revolve around how you interact with your family, and especially how you choose to behave as a parent. Are you super strict? Super lenient? The game doesn't tell you what's bad or good, what's the right or wrong way to be a parent, but like real life your kids don't always behave the way you wish they would ... Pros:

Mixing up different kinds of gameplay elements makes the game more fun and engaging.
I really liked being able to do things my own way; the game is made to roll with your choices.
Managing my farm was a lot of fun for most of the game.
Cons:

Like most visual novels and choose-your-own adventures, your choices are by nature sometimes pretty limited. Sometimes I'd get three choices and think "okay, but REALLY I'd do this different, forth thing". Oh well, suck it up and role play. =)
Near the end of the game, farming got a little tedious and rote. I mostly had things set up fine, and would just switch a couple crops around the same way back and forth. A small complaint, but it did take some of the joy out of farming. (Probably this is more like how real farmers feel about farming, so good job from a simulation aspect!)

Story & Setting
I felt like the story and setting were really good. I think the idea of space colonies and exploring the unknown are a lot of fun. Sure, you maybe could have told the "same story" in a different setting, but a sci-fi space colony setting gave some very interesting motivations. Pros:

Very few stories (let alone video games) have a focus on relationships, especially between spouses and children.
Technology is super advanced! But we don't have that here, it's too expensive, too rare, only back on earth. (Kind of reminds me of the colony planets in Firefly.)
It's a colony, the whole point is to colonize! But ... is that what I want for my kids? Maybe they should grow up very educated and go have a better life back on Earth? But didn't we leave Earth for good reasons in the first place? (By the way, play the first game to get the whole back story, it's free!)
Again, it's kind of like Robinson Corusoe, but in space! Sci-fi settings in my opinion make things more fun. =)
Cons:

There were a few minor anachronisms and inconsistencies between the first and second games. But we'll just assume some of that is because of new shipments from different shuttles in the meantime. =)
The story is pretty much about the "real life" of a space colony. Other than, you know, raising a family, farming and staying alive on an alien planet, solving community labor and interpersonal disputes (and investigating a murder that one time) not much thrilling happens. If you're the kind of person who isn't going to have fun until the hostile alien invasion, the game might feel kind of slow paced.

Graphics & Dialog
The graphics and dialog are the main ways a visual novel presents itself. How do these measure up? The graphics are a mix of quasi-photographic backgrounds with anime-style sprites. There is of course no competition with a big budget commercial game, but I thought overall the graphics had a fun, quirky, and most importantly, consistent character. Most importantly, there was a good focus on facial expressions, especially for the main characters, which helped the dialog have some context (e.g. "are they saying that for real, or just being sarcastic?") The dialog and storytelling are pretty good, and all of the characters had their own distinct personality. You can tell the authors tried really hard to give everyone their own unique perspective and point-of-view. Pros:

Graphics are a little campy, but fun and perfectly suitable to the story.
Dialog and narration is pretty good. Nothing stood out, and I kept immersed in the story.
Cons:

Graphics can't compete with big budget games -- but that wasn't ever the goal of the game.
Although there was plenty of interpersonal conflict in the game, often people in general were a little "too nice" and "too reasonable"; there were pretty much no generally irredeemable, bad, trashy, vindictive, horrible people. No complaints for this story, unless you're looking for bitter realism. We'll just pretend that those kind of folks didn't get picked to be shipped out to colonies. =)
This game is truly special. A unique visual novel about raising a family, this game gives you a fantastically balanced view on parenting whilst also having a unique plot with many genuinely unexpected twists and turns. While it may take a bit of getting used to (even if you've played the previous game 'Our Personal Space' (Which you absolutely should!)) this is a game that is absolutely worth your time. It truly has a lot of love put into it, and I did find myself tearing up at the end. Definitely give this (And the prequel Our Personal Space) a go!
I did not expect to like this series. But I love it. A relationship sim, a farming sim, a parenting sim, and a space exploration sim! All wrapped up in a neat package. 22+ earth years of story. I don't know the words to say everything I feel but if you want a game with as many high points as low points, worth every penny.
A bit longer than the first game in the series, Space to Grow makes learning to be a good parent fun. The setting is interesting and realistic. The characters and situations are very relatable. If you liked Our Personal Space, you will like this one even more!
My metric of a good story is whether i get teary eyes. Unfortunately the game did not give me teary eyes... my eyes just watered substantially. Completely honest though i am glad to see a sequel to the original and this was a rather enjoyable game. The story was great but my favourite experiences with the game were the child's development and seeing how they turned out. I also felt an actual attachment to most of the characters and was saddened when i would see one die. The farm management stuff i could take or leave honestly which is all that can be said about it. TLDR: Story is excellent as well as the characters and one of the best parent sims i have played.
Really great game with a well-written community story. You really feel for the characters as they grow over time.
As I was writing a review for another game, I remembered I meant to review this. Forgive me, I played a while ago and my memory might not be 100%. I was impressed by this game. I found it by looking for "choices matter" as a tag, and tried a few that came up over the space of months or a year. I don't feel many deserve that tag, but this game does. I had at least two playthroughs, and the colony by the end looked a lot different, as well as the friend group and the dynamic of Jack within his community. One time Jack was a bit of a loner, off doing his own thing and minding his own patch, and one he was a lot more involved in all kinds of different things that would be spoilers to talk about too much. The story unfolded organically and interestingly. I like thinking about the ordinary people of an extraordinary future, and if that appeals to you too, then this is a good way to see a great take on farmin' in space. I really enjoyed my time with the colony and the story that it presented. If I have any gripes at all, the first would be that Kelly isn't more of a character. Maybe because she was the main character of the last game? I get that it might have been really hard to have her involved in more of the decisions and still give the player agency without a huge explosion of work, so it is really just a minor disappointment. There were lots of characters I'd like to have seen more of but it's easy for me to say that! Kelly was just the most obvious. I am going to spoiler the next part if I can. It's not really a spoiler, but maybe?
The one weakness (maybe) for me was weirdly Terra... the central character of the whole game. After playing through a second time, I was surprised how little the choices seemed to matter in her upbringing compared to the world around her. To just use a couple vague examples, early on there is some potty training troubles. I remember that one because there were *so* many choices compared with a normal decision moment. Later there is a farm accident. In both playthroughs both happened, so I assume they always do. Anyway, despite complete different parenting styles, the most drastic choices as different as they can be with every decision - nothing was really different. You collect points that dictate the ending, but so very little of the actual decisions alter the course of her life in any meaningful way - and when you see how the family's place in the community can be, then it is quite a difference. HOWEVER! When I helped Jack and Kelly raise Terra a second time... and the only real difference was her aspiration and launching off point for her adult life, I wondered. Maybe this was the creator's intent all along? I don't want to say more because I wouldn't want to ruin the contemplation that can come with that. Just know if you get there - I did too. And if the creators are reading this - kudos. It's not often a game leaves me with a subtle reflection on the nature of parenthood.
Some reviews I read at the time said something about the art, but I liked it. It's good, the style stands out and conveyed all the emotion wonderfully. I might have found the farming mini-game a little odd and distracting but it does tie into the narrative in its own way, so I didn't mind going through it. All in all, it was a great experience, and clearly I still remember a bit a year or years after I last played. That is really impressive. I recommend this!
So I played the *first* game Our Personal Space(FREE), named my characters Corkey and Dewy. This game (2nd game) adopted my names from the previous game save (kudos to the programmers!) This game well surpasses the first in complexity of plot and the choices given. I played through once (though a few of my 20 hrs were AFK). The game was enjoyable, and I feel I reminded/picked up a few lessons on behavior and parenting. Planting crops in the game (This time as the husband at the helm) was a nice change from just stress management for the characters. I would recommend this game. It is slow paced, so I was able to play when I didn't feel great too. I feel it's worth the price, and the character (sprites? cut-outs) were fun and matched well with the mood of the game. Ultimately, I felt I was on Taalam, farming, raising kids and helping with new discoveries!
Charming game for those who enjoyed Our Personal Space. These games have a lot of heart and it shows. Could it be better? Yes. Would I prefer it not exist at all? definitely not. Would I buy it again? Absolutely. This series will always have a very special place in my heart.
A cute little story with lots of branching choices. Chock full of good parenting advice, too. Almost makes me want to have kids of my own. Almost. 4/5 stars.
