"Space Mechanic Simulator: Prologue" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Space Mechanic Simulator". Space Mechanic Simulator is yet another job simulator spawned by the unexpected success of Car Mechanic Simulator as PlayWay S.A. continues their spree of spamming these games as rapidly as possible onto Steam. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Space Mechanic Simulator, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Space Mechanic Simulator: Prologue" too. The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to pay a whopping fifteen bucks to buy Space Mechanic Simulator. I don't recommend you do that either. This is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos While it might seem like an inocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.

Damn, this game has some deep and dark story. I won´t spoil it for you, so you could play it to the end yourself and find out what i mean here. I think you will start getting ideas pretty soon what´s going on in the story. Wouldn´t have belived myself, but at the same time i was sure that something is fishy there. Yeah, i reccommend definitely to try this prologue before the game comes out. It is worth it. You have kinda your usual survival elements in there, oxygen, energy, thrusters fuel. Oh how many bumps i got in the game because flyng too speedy everywhere. I would have definitely broken my helmet like millions of times and also hurting myself realistically. I enjoyed the story tho too. I would give like 7-8/10 for this game.
I've been playing for a couple of hours. My first impression was good, some measuring instruments, the movement is not bad, however after an hour or more of playing my interest became less and less. I think the main problem is that it is totally linear, there is practically no gameplay since it is just following instructions step by step. Even if you try to do something different, the program stays blocked and you can no longer advance, for example the ground mission with the rover. I think the idea is good, the graphics are not bad, the controls too, but the fact that it is linear takes away all the simulation. For example, to repair something, there is a way and only one way, it is not possible to be inaginative and find how to repair things in different ways or with other materials. In the end I got completely bored. I'm not a fan of totally linear games like this.

I don't like it, it seems boring to me, controls.....a bit strange, I don't know............I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
Wouldn't let me crash into the planet, 2/10. But really, decent space physics, but bizarre controls for a first-person game, bleh story presentation. Makes me want to try out Hardspace: Shipbreaker.
