The demo looks pretty nice, though it can be a bit glitchy at times, but still it gives a great view of what's to expect on the full game. The combination of turn based Tactic, a little bit of RPG, and some strategy seems to work well in harmony, the zoom-in-out of the camera let us go in as detailed as the crews on board or as far as the space area outside the ship. Though this isn't the 1st game i owned with this design, it's still fun nevertheless, and i am starting to like this genre the more i play them. But hey, gotta be honest, it's the cats i am after... lol! :3 The "Bug" part is the Purranium and warp, probably only exist in the demo or the dev didn't thought much during the "trimming" of the game for a demo. You will have trouble travelling between solar system sometimes saying you don't have enough Purranium to 'Warp out', since you spent them before the warp system, you are then stuck on the map menu unable to progress. Yes, it's game breaking because we can't play further without a restart. Really hope such bugs will not be carried over to the main game. Another game breaking bug is the game can get stuck in a combat sometimes, and we can't end turn nor do anything. (It doesn't freeze because we still can pan and zoom around the map, just can't click on the buttons...). This types of bugs make the game looks VERY under polished... The other annoying part is the dialog overlay, the transparency of the pop up text box overlaying with the dialog box below making them hard to read. This really should be fixed before the main game release. Other smaller bugs like, if you met the Purranium warp bug, you restart at a previous stage with ALL the resources you got from before, so you are getting double. And certain bug (visual) like, your ship is still on fire even after you put them out, although it's visual only but still, it's a bug. Also some other Minor stuffs like the Bust portraits of the kitties doesn't match their 3D model body... Like Lizzy has a Siamese portrait but has a 3D body of a White cat... Summarize those up, this isn't really a prologue but rather a prototype of a game, can't even call it a demo but rather a test run. If the devs can fix those bugs before launch, then yes, it will be a great game. If they can't fix those bugs and launch it anyway, this game's review will be filled with red red colored thumbs down.
Before I played Space Cats Tactics: Prologue, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Looks very promising, I may even get in on the kickstarter. There are some issues in the demo however that I'd like to see get resolved before I contribute. - Several times I was stuck with no way out outside quitting the game and reloading from previous save point. - In the overhead map, I was stuck at Eros Station. I was warned that it was dangerous after clicking it, but I had no option to go any other place since I had completed the previous mission I was attempting to leave. When the ship finally moved to Eros, I couldn't do anything else. When I exited back to the main screen then continued it put me in Eros finally. - Another time I was exiting the dock at Checkpoint Junction, the game said it was the Enemies Turn, but they just sat outside within striking distance of me and never acted, so I couldn't do anything. When I exited back to the main screen and continued I was back at the starting point of the Eros mission. Overall though this game looks like it can become something very special in the future. At first I was a little apprehensive due to the cat theme, but after watching the video it looked very interestingly different than other TBS space games and I'm glad I gave it a shot. The cat theme turned out to be kind of funny at times with the dialog and naming convention used in other areas of the game. What's really neat is how the Developer has combined aspects of FTL's in ship management with an external 4X space game. And what sets it apart in the 4X space area are the weapons, ship upgrade system and resource gathering. I've never seen anything like this and that's a very welcome sight these days! By far this is the most unique 4X space game I've come across with some FTL, RPG elements and a lot of personality. I love getting behind games early, especially those that are unique or show a lot of promise as long as the Developer is active. I hope to see this game progress because it truly could become something very special.
This is an interesting game as I have never played this style of gaming before I must admit. Interesting story how they used cats and I wonder what the end of the game will be. If you are person who likes this genre I would recommend this game for sure! The quality of this game is as expected. This game is definitely worth a try considering it is Free! Impressive what the developer made so far. A little rough still but it has really potential to become a very mature and fun game. I would love to see this grow
This is seriously ambitious and impressive for being made by a single person, all the respect to you Alex! The graphics are professional and pretty, the UI is clear and concise, and the game-play is very solid. There are some minor bugs and things that could be streamlined but otherwise I had fun playing through the demo and I'm excited to see what you've got in store for the full release!
