A simple linear story serving as a backdrop for interesting combat. Visually there are a few slightly different artstyles among the character portraits, overworld sprites and depictions in combat, all great in their own right if a little dissonant placed all together. The environments are all well crafted with a good amount of detail and changes showing as the story progresses. The music is nice being upbeat and energetic while fitting the setting which makes it rather memorable. The remaining sound design is also very well done. Where I do have some criticism is the voice acting. Voice acting itself is always a plus showing additional effort, however here it is very inconsistent in what is voiced and most of the voice lines don’t line up with the written ones just enough to be distracting. A highlight of the game is easily the combat, which is set up a bit like Undertale’s with how you have to actively move around attacks with the addition of having to pass these kind of challenges for all of your own actions as well. There being conditions to fulfil for a more powerful attack is also a nice addition. Though I do find that some of the attacks can be a bit too difficult, if they are possible to evade at all. Most of the writing including optional dialogue is very comedic and more tongue-in-cheek than serious albeit there being a serious undertone around the rich’s abuse of power and nature conservation. I would be remiss not to mention the starting poem as well as the Jester who speaks in rhymes and the poem for the credits, which are all quite nice. There are a few bugs such as voiced dialogue cutting out or the icon in the battle system being stuck, which are easily fixable by quitting out of the game and reopening it again. The auto save before each fight comes in handy here, but it's still not great that these issues come up somewhat often. As a final verdict I do recommend this game. It’s a little rough around the edges and could use some more polish, but it also has a lot of great ideas which are execution at least competently. Plus it’s free and it’s quite short, so even the small bugs that can cause some delay don’t impact it too much.
