"SOLAR CAGE" is a mediocre 3D first person parkour platformer with a hideous filter designed to try hide the ultra lazy low poly environments. What do you do in the game? It's a platformer, so parkour and shooting to traverse levels and complete objectives leading to the ultimate goal of blowing up the sun. The graphics aren't great, low poly low quality assets and crappy filters. That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 6 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

It’s a good concept, it’s a platformer shooter with parkour elements and it’s basically Ultrakill but free, so it’s Doom on a budget, on a budget, I mean it doesn’t play like Ultrakill, the gameplay feels more like Neon White and SEUM combined with a mix of Ghostrunner cus' of the one life mode and enemies, however the character design and the feel of the character is basically V1 from Ultrakill. I’ll admit, the movements and shooting feels great and it's satisfying to kill an enemy with a punch, the wall climb and wall runs seems fine, they did a decent job with the controls, The tutorial is fast and easy to understand so I give them some props for that, the map size is decent, for a free game I think 9 levels is enough however the level design is just plain to look at. The soundtrack is actually ok, it's just generic techno music and the one bullet mechanics is actually fun but sometimes it’s frustrating. If you miss an enemy you either punch them or run as fast as possible to finish the level, cus’ the only way of getting an ammo is to kill an enemy, speaking of punch, well…. it’s possible but difficult to kill, you either punch them first, juke all the shots or lucky enough to not get hit by one of the enemy projectiles. Gameplay overall seems decent. The problems, it constantly drops some frames, there’s no graphic settings or any settings at all, only the volume slider and mouse sensitivity. The game doesn’t have any texture, so it’s hard to know if there's a gap between the floor or behind the platform and it’s annoying cus’ you’ll be dying more from doing platform than killing enemies, it also doesn’t help when the game have screen filter and you can’t turn it off, it’s just hard to see, the game looks really cheap as well, I mean it’s on their name Scuffed Games. It has a few bugs, mainly the platform aspect of it, sometimes it doesn’t let you do wall climb or wall run. Just a nitpick, if you die the game doesn’t tell you what button to press to restart the level, so my first time playing I thought you literally have to quit and start the game just to play again, but all you need to press is the reboot on your screen, The enemies spawn seems unfair, it’s just really annoying to deal with. Overall, the game is fine, it’s playable but it has some issues, I’ll give them 5.8/10.
