About
Rule a small fantasy kingdom and conquer your rival as you build up your cities and armies on the world map and command your troops on the battlefield
Small Kingdoms is a streamlined grand strategy and real-time strategy game, the Small Kingdoms Prologue is a free introductory version to the full game with a single campaign and a smaller number of buildings and units

The Prologue comes with a single campaign map which is a small world consisting of several islands with 2 playable kingdoms and each kingdom having 3 cities. The main game allows more kingdoms and cities on procedurally generated campaign maps

In the Prologue the two kingdoms are very much alike. In the main game, you choose to play as one of several kingdoms that each has their own set of islands and cities. The main kingdoms all have similar unit types, but each has their own unique flavour, with strengths and weaknesses for you to use strategically

Build up your cities by constructing buildings, gathering resources and training units for your garrison from the world map. Will your cities be economic powerhouses producing loads of resources? Or will they be military training camps designed to get a variety of new units into your armies?

Train units for your armies on the world map, then send them into battle and command them on the battlefield to achieve victory in siege and field combat. Will you build a balanced army capable of engaging in close quarters or at a distance? Or will you focus on ranged units to strike down the enemy from afar?

for free overall alright.
Small Kingdoms Prologue is an engaging strategy experience that successfully introduces players to the foundations of a larger medieval kingdom-building adventure. Developed and published by Bad Logic Studios, this free standalone prologue offers a focused campaign that showcases the game's core mechanics without overwhelming newcomers. By combining city management, resource planning, diplomacy, and real-time battles into a compact experience, it creates an accessible entry point for both casual strategy fans and players who enjoy more traditional grand strategy games. Although its content is intentionally limited compared to the full release, the prologue delivers enough variety to demonstrate the potential of the complete project. The campaign is set across a modest chain of islands where two competing kingdoms struggle for dominance. Each faction begins with a handful of cities, placing a strong emphasis on careful expansion and long-term planning rather than rapid conquest. Players must develop settlements by constructing new buildings, increasing resource production, and maintaining a healthy economy capable of supporting military growth. Every improvement contributes to the kingdom's overall strength, forcing players to constantly weigh short-term benefits against future needs. The game's streamlined structure keeps the pace moving while still encouraging thoughtful decision-making, making every city feel important to the larger campaign. Economic management serves as the backbone of the experience. Resources gathered from developed settlements are essential for constructing new infrastructure, upgrading existing buildings, and recruiting increasingly capable armies. Instead of relying on overly complicated mechanics, the game keeps its systems easy to understand while still rewarding efficient planning. Building the right structures at the appropriate time directly impacts military readiness, ensuring that economic success and battlefield performance remain closely connected. This balance creates a satisfying gameplay loop where strategic preparation is just as important as victory in combat. Military encounters unfold in real time, allowing players to command the armies they have assembled throughout the campaign. Success depends not only on maintaining a larger force but also on choosing an effective composition of units and positioning them wisely during battles. Siege warfare and open-field engagements add welcome variety, requiring players to adapt their tactics based on the situation. The combat mechanics avoid unnecessary complexity, making battles enjoyable without sacrificing the strategic depth expected from the genre. This approachable design allows players to focus on making meaningful tactical decisions instead of wrestling with overly complicated controls. Visually, Small Kingdoms Prologue favors readability over graphical spectacle. The medieval environments, settlements, and battlefields are presented with a clean artistic style that makes it easy to monitor city development and troop movements. The interface complements this philosophy by presenting important information clearly, helping players understand the consequences of their decisions without excessive menus or clutter. While the presentation may not compete with the most technically advanced strategy games, it effectively supports the gameplay and reinforces the title's accessible design philosophy. The prologue's biggest drawback is simply the amount of available content. Its smaller campaign map, limited number of cities, and reduced selection of buildings and units mean experienced strategy players may reach the end relatively quickly. However, these limitations are understandable given the game's purpose as a preview of the complete release. Rather than feeling unfinished, the prologue succeeds in presenting a polished slice of the overall experience while leaving players curious about the expanded mechanics, larger worlds, and additional strategic options promised for the full game. Small Kingdoms Prologue is a well-crafted introduction that demonstrates a solid understanding of what makes kingdom-building strategy games enjoyable. Its combination of city management, economic planning, army development, and accessible real-time combat creates a rewarding experience that is easy to learn yet offers enough strategic depth to remain engaging throughout its campaign. While its scope is naturally modest, it effectively highlights the strengths of the upcoming full release and leaves a positive impression. Rating: 6/10

Easy achievements. As for the gameplay, it needs more work. Maybe the real game will be better.
It has easy achievements and good visual appearance, as a negative note I would say that it has poor optimization, these errors should be fixed as it is a prologue.
Verily, a splendid concept doth grace this endeavor, yet the game, in its present state, doth linger in a rather embryonic condition. Without substantial rectifications in its final iteration, the prospect of triumph remains elusive.

I am a self proclaimed "The Prologue Guy" and i approve of this half baked. ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ )
