Signal is an immersive action-adventure game made as a student project where you attempt to uncover the mystery behind your old mentor's distress message. To succeed in your mission, you will have to use your martial arts skills and fight off hostile creatures that are trying to stop you.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.
About

Signal 2025 is a pretty interesting action adventure that surprised me with how much it tries to fit into its short experience. I play as someone searching for an old mentor after receiving a distress message on a dark and mysterious planet. I liked the combination of futuristic exploration, martial arts and survival elements because it gives the game a personality that feels different from a more traditional side scrolling adventure. The combat is easily the part I enjoyed the most. I can use martial arts combos, dodge incoming attacks and fight a variety of hostile creatures that can punish me pretty quickly when I stop paying attention. The fighting feels fast and fairly aggressive, and I liked having to react rather than simply attacking everything without thinking. Some encounters can be surprisingly brutal, which gives the exploration a nice sense of danger. Exploration is also important because the planet is split into distinct areas filled with secrets and useful resources. As I push forward, I can discover information about my mentor and gain new powers that help me deal with later challenges. I enjoyed that sense of gradually uncovering the mystery while also becoming stronger. The crafting system adds another useful layer because I can combine plants to create injections that heal me or temporarily improve my attacks. The atmosphere is probably my other favorite part. The planet has a dark dystopian feeling, with natural environments mixed with futuristic and hostile surroundings. I liked how the game makes the world feel mysterious without relying entirely on cutscenes to explain everything. Collecting logs and creature information through the inventory also gives me a reason to pay more attention to what I find while exploring. My biggest issue is that some parts feel rough around the edges. The combat can be enjoyable, but the overall level design and presentation do not always feel as polished as the strongest encounters. There are also times when the exploration feels a little empty between the more interesting fights and discoveries. I think the game has a much bigger idea behind it than its current content can fully deliver. I also wanted more depth from the progression. The combination of new powers, crafting and exploration is promising, but I would have liked more opportunities to meaningfully customize how I approach combat. The game does enough to keep me interested, but some of its mechanics feel like the starting point for a much larger project rather than fully expanded systems. Overall, Signal 2025 is a solid free action adventure with enjoyable martial arts combat, an interesting sci fi setting and a nice survival crafting touch. I liked exploring the mysterious planet and gradually uncovering the story while learning how to deal with its dangerous creatures. It could use more polish, deeper progression and a little more content, but there is a good foundation here and I had a fun time with it. Rating: 6.7/10
