Fun game!
Fun but hard. If you don't manage your upgrades adequately and prioritize enemies tactfully, you'll quickly be overwhelmed. I'll be crushing it, blink, and suddenly everything I worked so hard for has been destroyed. Lol. I've never played Rampart so I can't comment on how well that inspiration translates, but I can say it's one of those games that doesn't waste your time when all you want is a quick gaming session. I also appreciate that it autosaves your progress even if you're in the middle of a wave. The graphics are super crisp. Controls felt great on keyboard and mouse. Will update once I try on my steam deck.

A bit tricky to figure out at first but pretty fun once you do. Good Game is nice to look at Building is fun. Monster designs are cool. It's fun to shoot enemies. Things that could be improved : I'd rather all my turrets auto shoot. Just getting more ammo for building turrets is not that fun. Didn't feel like there is a lot of strategy to the building. After completing a round and thinking I won I guess I actually lost. That wasn't fun.
Great game for anyone who loves tower denense or Rampart. Double bonus if you want both!
Enjoyed the first bit I played of this game. Very satisfying blowing up the hordes coming towards the castle. Would recommend!
I liked the game. It took me 14 hours to make it through clearing all the levels and waves. I think the developer should add markings on runes which told us which turrets benefit from them. It's hard to tell if the extra projectile rune I'm looking at work only on archers vs ballista vs cannons. Maybe it can be used for all three? I focused only on archers. I didn't do anything with the luck runes, but made sure to keep enough of the rest to constantly upgrade them when available. On every map, I made sure to get to all of the other citadels and grabbed all the archer nodes. Towards wave 25-30ish, I usually had enough archers to constantly hold down my mouse without a pause in arrows. I would start picking up the ballista nodes as well and I would build a few just to cleanup the big enemies. Towards the later levels, I would build up 3-4 walls around my main citadel just so I wasn't constantly having to repair it before the timer ran out. This is probably what the developer wanted us to do. The tetris tiles make a lot more sense when I'm trying to fit the perfect wall in the hole. I also only stuck with the frost wizard. Some enemies are "invisible" but if you throw his ability at them, they can easily be spotted and destroyed. When buying a game, I want to get at least 1 hour of unique fun for every dollar it costs to buy. 14 hours for $8.99. Would recommend.
I want to love the only game to steal mechanics from NES Rampart. But this was pushed out the door too soon. My game got eaten by bugs, and now when I try to load my saves, it goes straight to halfway through a level while also choosing a starting fort location, and also all the towers randomly move, and I can't leave build mode while the UI is invisible. Heartbreaking. More games should try new things, but this developer's reach exceeded their grasp.
Belle surprise ! Bien choisir quoi prioriser.
More infuriating than fun, extremely hard to keep up with the mobs when you have to constantly rebuild your defenses from tanks , spires and wizards that can destroy them in one shot.
This feels like a modern remake of Rampart. I played from the start on Expert difficulty. I got stuck early on for the first few levels, grinding out the runes you need, but once I understood the game and had a core set of runes, it became pretty straightforward and easy to progress. All of the sessions are on my youtube (or will be). Once I understood the core game loop, it's became mostly satisfying, because there is a little bit of a skill element since the shooting is an active skill based shot. You have to aim. You have to predict movement. It's simple, doesn't have a lot of depth one you understand how the game works and what strategies are involved. My first impressions were not that great, because the game doesn't really teach you about certain concepts, that, once you understand, improves the game a bit. For instance, you get runes you can draft, and when you build your walls around a rune space, you unlock one of those runes. However, the game doesn't tell you that the rune you get only powers towers of the TYPE of rune space you encirtle. So I was very confused, for instance, when I unlocked a Spread rune, which adds +1 projectile to your shots, I was not actually getting the +1 projectile on all my towers. It took a few games for me to realize you only got the +1 projectile to the tower type you applied it to. This means that there are 3 tower types, and each tower can have 5 runes. Once I understood that, I was able to draft out the runes I wanted, then it becomes a little bit of luck of getting the runes you want on each tower type. Once you understand this concept, the rest of the game starts to become easy. That said, there are some negatives: - It's core loop is not very deep - There are some runes that have bugged tooltips, either they are meant to do something else or the logic to their upgrade path makes no sense - There are some OP strategies that outshine everything else - you can explore that on your own - when you have your runes finally upgraded, there isn't much else to do until you unlock the next milestone to upgrade again. You can be "maxed out" for multiple levels. The game could use better metaprogression options, and possibly levels with more unique tower layouts. Every map is basically the same thing, buti with minor enemy variants. I did get this game for free, so I can't say if it's worth the price. For me, it's a solid 4.99 game for the 15-20 hours it'll take me to 100% it. Maybe if there is a Seigecaster 2, with more meta progression and more meat on the bones, it would be worth 9.99. Overall, I'll give it a positive review, but it's borderline.
