Civ 5 still does things better than Civ 6 (which is a phenomenal game) such as leader screens and your empire feeling more realistic and less like a board game. I also liked how city states became avenues for geo politics with gifting troops to fight a foreign aggressor without getting directly involved. In an ideal world, Civ 7 would have been a combination of 5 and 6 instead of the disappointment we got. With the expansions, this game will ensure you get your moneys worth, especially on sale.

Civilization V is the ultimate "I’ll go to bed at 10 PM, oh wait it’s 4 AM and I’m invading Poland" simulator. It’s not just a strategy game, it’s a full-time addiction wrapped in a board game. You start with a tiny group of dudes holding sticks and end up dropping nukes on Gandhi because he looked at your sugar plantation wrong. The "just one more turn" loop is so real it should come with a government warning label. Before you know it, you’ve spent six hours researching agriculture and declaring war on your best friend over a piece of whale meat. It’s simple to pick up, impossible to put down, and ruined my sleep schedule for a month.
