Set Yourself on Fire

A beautifully written story that was shockingly intimate. I went into it expecting something I'd enjoy but certainly not resonate with; however, I was sorely mistaken. I came out of this visual novel with the perfect kind of catharsis that lasts for days and makes me deliberate countless personal views. I cannot stress how much I absolutely adore the story's writing; it's been many days since the evening I read it without internet, and I don't think there's been a single one where I didn't read some amount of the story again. It's a shame that such an emotional and beautiful VN isn't more popular.

Everything, everyone, has a purpose in life. Whether immediately clear or not, there is always a method to the madness. Set Yourself on Fire is a beautiful, stomach twistingly honest depiction of young love through the traumatized lives of Michelle and Alex, in a grounded and viscerally real world not more than ten steps away from our own. Unlike most of my reviews regarding games that have personally touched me and my being, I cannot say much more than that. Please, please give this short (~3 hours) visual novel a read, I truly believe that there is something in this experience that can resonate with just about anyone from any and every walk of life. Love yourself and one another, be kind. And whatever you do, do not douse that fire within you.

it is a very emotional visual novel with beautiful art and ambiguous writing that combines into a powerful message about death, love and two directionless lovers finding purpose in each other in this soulless world.

Can someone please pick this up into a movie starring Sadie Sink and Sophia Lillis

This game is a masterpiece of a masterpiece and all of that it contributes, THIS GAME IS A BLOODY MASTERPIECE, as it tackles the dullness of life. Yet the vibrant nature of love and how war deteriorates both children induced in the surplus of war and the timid emptiness from a routine one finds dull.

Unique, captivating and the best thing I've experienced in quite a while. The story is so relatable, so heartwrenching and heartwarming at the same time, and so human... The way it is told, the collage and mixed media, kept blowing my mind. Simply incredible. Do yourself a favour and play this. It's free and it will take, at most, two hours of your time, while changing your life in the process.
