This is the best game I've played in a long time. Every scene could be a painting, every paragraph a poem. It's teenage angst and late-stage capitalism anxiety and blossoming love all in one. It warmed my heart. It made me cry. It showed me the beauty of the world through a cracked lens. You owe it to yourself to play this.

Two suicidal lesbians pondering over the absurdity of life
I don't usually write reviews but it's a MUST for this game, the soundtrack is beautiful and the story it tells is beyond that word, it does something I don't think any other stories have done for me and that is turning my inexplicable emotions into gorgeous words and precious artwork, thank you for creating this story. Please play this game.
Set Yourself on Fire is a game about spinning your wheels as you wait for... something to happen. Moving through a day as merely a prelude to the next day, moving closer and closer to the terminus. And then, one day, you just don't do that anymore. You're in the world. You're alive. Isn't that wonderful?
While the writing didn't resonate with me on a thematic level, be it from age or lack of lived experiences, I was left enamoured with both the love story and the game's overall presentation. lt cleverly uses the medium for its visuals in ways that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. Every frame a painting. Every paragraph a poem. Pretentious at times, but earnest. It's free, so the only limit here is whether you vibe with it or not.
[A quiet town awaits death. Two young women fall in love] "set yourself on fire" is beautifully composed and atmospheric story. a melancholic and existential visual novel, the scenic composition in concert with the soundtrack left me entranced with many of the visuals. i'd often linger onto scenes much longer than i should've despite it's innate simplicity. the premise and it's execution i was thoroughly engaged with, and found myself relating to both the characters deeply. but as much as it is beautiful in it's portrayal of love and it's heartfelt story, it is equally haunting in it's depiction of loneliness, broken homes, depression, and suicidal ideation. perhaps it's these intertwined themes that make it much more compelling despite it's intense topics, id still recommend it for the poetic expression alone. it's free and only a few hours of your time, so why not?
