Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.11/day in the week to Aug 4 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I played this game when it first released on the PlayStation and came into this remaster with rose tinted glasses on and still hate it. It's a lazy port and most of the changes make things worse. I've cleared two routes and both got soft locked when route flags didn't set properly. The last was on T260 who has to visit three locations in his original chassis. If you change body type, the story won't progress. No where does it give any hint that you could run into a problem like that. So if you're planning to play through without a guide in hand, you should give up on that. As others have said, the difficulty swings wildly between encounters you can clear in your sleep and bosses that will one shot your whole party. So it becomes this ritual of praying to RNGesus that you get the right combos before the boss lands on an attack that you can't tank. It's nice that you can flee from battles 100% of the time, but given how many encounters are on every screen and how they reset every time you leave or enter a room it would make more sense to just turn encounters off. Especially with the New Game+ feature. There's no reason to grind at all on the second playthrough and after, so you'll be spamming the flee button until you reach a boss. The story is a bit of a mess too, but it's hard to even take in with the lack of any direction aside from the "Story" tips included in the menu. On my Asellus play through it had useful tidbits like, "Visit another area." Thank you Captain Obvious, you have saved the world for another day. It's kind of mind boggling how so many people have left positive reviews.

Spectacularly unhinged in every way. Poorly explained mechanics, nonsensical world, obscene difficulty spikes, unrealistic character motivations, plot points that can only be summed up as going from A-Z...I could keep going. SaGa Frontier is an unmitigated mess, but if you can get past that and enjoy the ride without necessarily understanding why - you might just have a great time. These 90s RPGs have charm and ambition that still blows me away more than most stuff that comes out now.
If you like the original, get this. if you're new, don't. if you do get it even though you are new be sure to follow a guide so you don't get locked in a dungeon that you can't leave until it's finished. my last bit of advice, don't grind like you do in other rpg style games as this game will punish you severely for it.

CPU: i9-14900K(bios
OS: Windows 11
GPU: RTX 4090

I really wish there was more "story" to this game. I get that it's an open sandbox sort of thing, but it doesn't feel very free or open when there's none of the interactivity or emergent gameplay from something like Ultima, but it does have the rail-roaded JRPG structured story from Squaresoft's other games, just without much writing. Scenes sort of start and stop, and the game is absolutely stingy on details on where to go and what to do. The Remastered version does some work to mitigate that, but it's still a confusing and frustrating experience. As someone who didn't play the original when it released, but have played older RPGs, this is an interesting look into what Squaresoft was like when they had more money than god (or sense), but it's still an experiment. Other RPGs (some older and some younger) have handled what Saga Frontier is trying to do, but better. This feels like the weird sibling of an already weird group of games, like Ultima 4, Morrowind, Caves of Qud, Octopath Traveler, Live-A-Live, Legend of Mana, or Radiata Stories.
The Remastered is awesome and introduces lots of quality of life improvements to this game. The biggest ones are the New Game+ that carries over your items, equipment and arts/skill. Since there are multiple heroes and when you complete one story you don't have to regrind again. If a hero appears in a previous story and you leveled that hero, the hero will appear with the same skills and magic unlocked! There is also a story section that tells you exactly what you need to do next to trigger the next story mission. All this cuts the game padding down significantly. This is a very hard game to recommend to newcomers unfortunately. The graphics and music are good and and it does have a nice charm about it. The main issue is that the overall stories just aren't very exciting to play through. Outside of the main quests, the side quests are (mostly) the same and the areas are mostly all the same so it becomes repetitive. There aren't really much changes to NPC or dialogue either. Rather than look forward to trying out a new perspective with new areas or content, the world just feels mostly empty. As a player, you end up repeating the same optional subquests in each storyline to get the same equipment. Why they couldn't just make this a big giant single game is baffling. I started this series playing Romancing Saga 2 and 3 and I would recommend either of those games over this one first as it's flaws in my opinion just outweigh the pluses even with the updates.
TLDR: Too unfocused on the story to be a narrative-driven game, yet too linear to be open world.

PROS:
➕Unique combat/healing system ➕Good quality remaster ➕Multiple characters/stories
CONS:
➖Odd story presentation ➖Unforgiving difficulty ➖Many things are not explained very well This will be a shortened review as I did not complete the game. I found SaGa Frontier Remastered (SFR) to be a strange game. It’s an RPG that is too open-ended to be a linear story-based RPG, but it’s also too focused to be an open world game. While I am very familiar with JRPG games, this is my first SaGa game. I’ve heard stories about SaGa being an odd JRPG, but I wasn’t prepared for how little it resonated with me. I played, but did not finish, two characters stories: Emilia and Red, getting much further in Emelia’s story. I found the story to be disjointed and somewhat meaningless. The way the characters talk remind me of early Final Fantasy games, like pre-5 where the dialect is very laconic and simple. I found the mechanics to be a bit interesting. There isn’t healing between fights, as you heal up fully automatically between battles. There isn’t levels but you do gain stats after a battle based on what you did during the battle. It’s very similar to Final Fantasy II, which admittedly I didn’t like, but I think the battle system is better here in SFR. I also thought this was a very good port. It ran perfectly, it looks good for a PS1 game, and there are additional features like 2x speed. Overall, though, I cannot recommend SaGa Frontiers Remastered. I found it to be an odd game with what felt like an afterthought of a story. While I understand that the SaGa series might not be story focused, I would have much preferred 2-3 more tightly-knit stories instead of having 6-7 different characters which feel half-baked. I would only recommend this based on nostalgia.
Recommend? (Price) [Y/N]

No
You can find my curator page here: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/Synik_GR
Okay so let's start off with my negatives first. Understanding how Monster Party members progress their stats requires looking it up. Understanding how Mystics' absorbs work requires keeping a guide open. Besides Realm and Light most of the magic types are niche utility and your mileage will vary for them depending on playthrough and luck. Emilia is a great character but her scenario has some gross and uncomfortable moments that, while never explicit, really have not aged well. On a related note, Roufas is a nothing character who could be removed from the game entirely and nothing would be lost. Okay that's all the negatives. Holy s*** I love this game and every part of it, despite the negatives I listed. I love the world and the way it presents it. I love exploring the regions. I love the characters (except Roufas). I love the story. I love how the combat encounters work. I love the bosses. I love how characters progress and learn new skills, even the obtuse ones like Monsters and Mystics. I love how much freedom you have in building your party. I love how NG+ gives you total control over what you carry over (I personally recommend not carrying over items and only carrying over monster rank if it's a scenario of one of the main party members of your previous game). I even love the difficulty-spike final bosses. I think this is one of the best classic Square Enix RPGs and more people should play it.
