About
On the fifth anniversary of their father’s death, the brothers discover a horrific message written in blood across their boarded-up church pulpit: 5 Days. With the town of Skipclaw sealed behind protective walls and humanity no longer the apex predator, Runt must investigate the omen before the fifth day arrives, and choose who to accuse. Will you be able to guess right?
The order of conversations, the questions asked, and the conclusions drawn will all shape the outcome at the end. Over five days, you will investigate every brother and their secrets, build or fracture relationships with masked townsfolk, survive in a world haunted by otherworldly creatures, and decide who is responsible. On the final day, upon choosing a culprit, you’ll see one of over a dozen endings.
To survive, the townspeople must stay in the light, cover their skin, and hide their faces behind masks. Inside the walls, safety is fragile, suspicion is constant, and the Strayer family, architects of the town’s defenses, sit at the center of it all. Dialogue choices build hidden stats that influence how characters respond to you and which clues reveal themselves. The kind of person you become will determine which truths you’re able to uncover, and which ones you’ll never know.
A mature story for both adventure and visual novel fans.
Branching dialogue system where personality traits unlock different paths and clues as you develop relationships with those around you.
Five-day investigation of collecting clues to draw conclusions, culminating in a player-driver accusation.
Micro-games including HOGS (Hidden Object Games), puzzles, and bespoke manual labor vignettes.
A meticulously crafted aesthetic featuring originally captured photographs and hand-painted art.
Highly replayable rural gothic mystery with over a dozen different endings.
A bleak post-apocalyptic setting where darkness is permanent and humanity is, unfortunately, not alone.

It's a masterpiece. Deeply immersive, well worth your time.
A really incredibly written VN with a compelling narrative and very interesting world. Definitely struggles with some QoL issues that can turn off some people from playing, but if you can look past that then it's an incredibly enjoyable narrative.
Overall: if you like horror, detective, visual novels, you'll prolly enjoy this game. I totally got sucked into this game. It has some stellar storytelling and solid detective mechanics. I like the setting and characters feel 3 dimensional. My one beef with this game is the mini games. They can be punishing. Not sure if like an auto skip/solve is possible, but if so it would definitely increase replayability.

I had a lot of fun playing Runt. Every character has a lot of depth and personality. There are a LOT of different ways to do a playthrough so you can play it multiple times and learn new stuff. One of my favorite aspects was seeing all the art for the characters and backgrounds. It can get a bit annoying running through dialogue you've already read before in earlier playthroughs, but I think it's worth it to get the whole story. Overall it was fantastic and I'm excited for future projects from Grimtaste!
Вышел на худшую концовку и оценить полноценно не могу, но сама задумка, художественное оформление и музыка заслуживают положительный отзыв. Дополню, когда пройду ещё парочку раз.
ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL, the writing is fantastic, the tension is palpable, the art is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gorgeous, everything is so fascinating and i am truly enthralled. this game is a masterpiece to me, every element comes together to make such a perfect atmosphere that is so immersive and cohesive and GREAT
Absolutely incredible visual novel. Hauntingly dark, beautiful and memorable in ways I'm going to be thinking about for a long time.
I might have only done one ending but man oh man what a journey! [Gotta play more for the true ending~] I thought I could be sneaky at the end but oh boy did that not work in my favor at all ^^; I will say getting the rare "Beneath the Grinding Boot of God" for a first playthrough I think is pretty cool! The tension was real, it felt like Hunter was there. I kinda agree that last puzzle is a real head scratching that I had to look at a guide for some help but I think we kinda get it :3 https://youtu.be/hp_nXUX9IGI
The sheer experience of this game is like sitting on fishhooks but in a good way. Unnerving, tense, unsettling. It makes you wonder why you're playing, or even who you are while trying to figure out who RUNT is. It is a fantastic experience reinforced by deliberate choices in sound, music, art, and of course the writing. Please try this game if you want to step out of *points to everything* and into something truly messed up (complimentary).
Almost done with first attempt of the five days which I read happens twice more. The writing and world builders is exemplary. Outstanding. The minigame segments where you perform a task such as cut up a steer, start a generator, thread a needle, are AWFUL. It nearly ruins my recommendation. They’re explained poorly, executed with the most pin perfect mouse click, and start over sometimes if you fail. Or you just fail and it moves on after a long time.
