Einfach NEIN!!!!..... :(
Rocket League is one of a kind, like no other.
When we say Rocket League, people who isn't familiar with it probably go be thinking like "haha, funny car soccer go brr", oh boi let me tell you it isn't just "a game" but it will also be draining your mental health if you're taking this beautiful sport very seriously. It's easy to learn, hard to master. Wanna learn cool mechanics? Even more difficult to learn and master. There's just so much you can do in this game, from controlling the ball on the ground to wall, dribbling in the air to the net etc, it's endless. Being a part of the team contributing simply by passing the ball to teammate, demolishing/bumping opponent(s) at the right timing, taking the opportunity to score, making great comebacks from 0-4, zero second goals and such.. it feels rewarding every time, those level of satisfaction is unbeatable. Not fond of playing as a team? Good news, there's Duel Mode which is 1v1 so you only have to deal with an opponent and the demon in yourself. It's all fun and games until toxicity comes in. Somehow RL is the only sports video game I love, and I don't even play any sports type in general. To be honest I don't like football either but I enjoyed watching some RLCS scene on Twitch live years ago. Watching the pros make amazing plays just leaves us in awe. RL is enjoyable in both Casual and Ranked, Extra Modes is available too where it isn't regular ball or there's quirky power-ups to use against your opponents. You can play against bots as well if you just don't want to PvP. There is also a bunch of workshop maps where you can explore for more variety, some are very helpful for aerial training. However the learning part in general requires very lengthy time to practice just to improve at the game, ranging from hundreds to thousands of hours. Everyone will get better mechanically after each Season- so it is never easy for average players to return to RL after a long break compared to most other games. Truth to be told, being in lower ranks is much more laid-back and less chaotic, when fun is all what matters. Those were really good old times. Believe me, once you've climbed to higher ranks it just doesn't feel as fun anymore. Every second counts, every small mistake is a golden opportunity for opponent to score, managing boost, the pressure from opponents.. each of these whole 5+ minutes match can definitely feel stressful. To maintain and grind the ranks you gotta keep on practicing from time to time. This doesn't sound so "haha funny car" anymore, right? Not to forget that RL actually have amazing list of anthem/music made by various artists. Often times it's not a bad idea to sit back and chill, listen to the music playing in the background at the main menu. The reason why I actually start playing this game was because of this one particular track, Outbreak (feat. MYLK) by Feint used on one of the compilation video of Dota 2 clips back in year 2018. That song is fire! Occasionally been vibing to other songs such as All I Need, LUV U NEED U, ROCK IT, Endgame, Flip Reset, just wanna luv, and many other classics too. They're all just sounds too pleasant to my ears! I've got a total of 5707 Hours recorded, combined from Steam, Epic and Playstation. However, nearly half of the hours on RL (roughly 2.5k hours) were for trading so the only hours I've truly played was around 3k+. Ever since Player-to-Player trading was removed on 5th December 2023, RL starts to feel a little dull overtime. The item set collections I've obtained over the years somewhat feels worthless. However I still love RL for its core gameplay, and there is no other to replace it. Even so with 3k+ Hours invested, am I good at the game? Nope, somehow been performing worse mostly. How about the people I've met along the way? I'm very grateful to have found long time friends through random matches and trading, though I've also made a few "enemies" in between for some reasons. The number of friends I've played together with all these years? Absolutely fun and memorable, including the moments we would just be raging at each other for trolling and making mistakes. It's one of the games that many of us would hop in occasionally to have some good quality time together in either Casual or Ranked. Best ever $5 spent in year 2018. Okay so enough boring story above, do I recommend Rocket League to new players? Sure if you start young, or simply have a lot of time in your hands regardless of age. Just take it with a grain of salt, or heck just grab that whole bag if you'd like too. Other than that, if you just want to have some silly fun sessions and fool around with friend(s), yeah go ahead and try it! I'd suggest playing using Controller over Keyboard with/without Mouse, it's much easier to adapt and control for most people. Only the rare ones play insanely good with KB/KBM. Also for anyone that confused why RL isn't available on Steam anymore, it's all thanks to Epic for removing it from Steam when the game's going Free-to-Play on 23rd September 2020 because they want new PC players to download and play the game via their launcher instead.
Game is not worth your time or effort. Community is so incredibly toxic, your teammates will throw instantly, if your teammate DC's mid game too bad so sad, enjoy grinding more!! Think about why they made this game free to play - it's because nobody wants to waste their money. Do anything else, learn Chinese, rekindle friendships, find a gf, literally anything else. Waste of my life.
Great game. Absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ management. Getting banned from gameplay because your ecosystem promotes not only horrible gameplay but toxicity. People can tell you they're going to kill your mother but if you stop playing you get a ban for un-sportsman like conduct. Joke of a company for years now. Fumbled every change so far.
Epic games has completely ruined my life by funding the servers for this game that makes me feel like i want to obliderate every living and non living thing within a 2 mile radius. When i die i will go to hell just for playing this god awful game and i will have to continue playing the game in hell with satan as my duo and we will lose every game to the idf soldiers getting put into my ranked games to ruin my life and cause mass destruction to everything and everyone in eyes view.
The game used to be a ton of fun when I originally got it on Steam in 2019. The learning curve was tough, but the lower ranks seemed fun and I was laughing and smiling a lot, just having a good time in general. As I started climbing the ranks, things changed and it was becoming more of a chore/job than a game that i enjoy. I would get scolded and raged at for a minor mistake, even when there is 4 minutes and 30 seconds left to play. Smurfs, boosters, derankers, all began showing up. Psyonix didn't care to fix this. Then, came the purchase from Epic Games, which made things way worse. Some deals that you could get with Psyonix (special cars, decals, etc) for 10 euros, now cost 30+ euros. The game became free and thus opened the door to way more abusers like the ones mentioned above (smurfs, boosters, derankers, ragers), without any consequences. Reporting does nothing, it only works (occasionally) for swearing, threats, cyber violence. Epic only cares about the profit, I could write an essay about it. The game feels abandoned, regardless of the seasonal updates and events every now and then. It is carried by the community who refuse to let it go because it used to be so fun, but for me it has lost its charm. I am around the Champ II rank and every time I try to focus and climb to the GC I at least, I get matched up with people who make me hate the game. That brings us to matchmaking: it's horrible. When you play solo 2v2, you will often encounter parties where one person is high GC or even an SSL, and their teammate just stands at the goal waiting for the victory to come. Even worse, if you decide to team up with someone you've had a good game with, the chances of meeting smurfs in EVERY game gets from 60% to 90%. You will be outmatched every time you party up. That's bs and a horrible way to manage things. It would be fixable by reporting smurfing and griefing, but like I said - it doesn't work. The negative review and the lack of recommendation isn't due to the game's looks & mechanics. It's great. It is due to the negligence created by Epic Games by allowing some really nasty people to ruin the experience for others. For years I thought that it will get better, that someone at this huge corporation will care and try to fix things, but no. It does not look like it is happening. With that said - this ISN'T Rocket League!
Never been so impressed in how badly a game can do everything F*** epic
The game is not worth putting effort in, the game is full of toxic people and losers, me included.
