Robot Arena III

Worst game ever! No help at all how to start up, this game really sucks and was not worth to buy. DON'T BUY THIS GAME! TRUST ME!

This game is pretty much as Alpha-worthy as everyone says but it's definitely possible to build a cool bot and beat the computers. Get good guys ;)

Idk it was just good

Where do I even *begin* with this game? Almost 20 years ago -- back in 2003 -- Robot Arena 2 was released for PC. This bargain bin game turned out to be a surprise success for Gabriel Interactive. Robot Arena 2 was so successful that to this very day there is a dedicated playerbase for this game that still plays Robot Arena 2. They run tournaments, create custom mod packs, and show off their latest builds. For 20 years! Back in the 2003 days fans of Robot Arena 2 were discussing what they wanted to see in Robot Arena 3. Robot Arena 3 hadn't been announced but everyone figured with the smash hit that was Robot Arena 2 there would have to be a third game. The game never came to be, not until Octopus Tree showed up in 2016 with Robot Arena 3. The robotarena.com domain, which had laid dormant for over a decade, suddenly came back to life with a picture of the game's logo and a "Coming Soon" message under it. The hype for this game was still there all those years later. That's why when this game released it crashed so hard. Everything about Robot Arena 3 was outdone by Robot Arena 2 over a decade prior. You name it. Graphics (arguably), play control, music, sounds, weight classes, building components, AI, damage models, everything about Robot Arena 3 was inferior to the game that came before it. This game is a buggy mess. There's no collision between parts in the Bot Lab so you can just stack parts inside of parts with no repercussions. Where's the challenge in designing an efficient robot when you can just stack its batteries inside of each other? Also I'm not convinced the batteries in this game even actually do anything. Collision between parts and the arena floor seems to be completely random. Weapons and extenders will just fall through the floor like nothing's there. There's a fun glitch in this game where sometimes going to tournament mode will crash the game. When that happens your robot will be permanently "stuck" in the tournament that the game now thinks is ongoing. You can't join it in progress. You can't forfeit. Since your robot is stuck in a tournament you also cannot open it in the Bot Lab to work on it either. It's basically gone. There's another glitch where occasionally the Bot Lab will crash. When this happens the game "eats" your robot. You cannot reopen it in the Bot Lab. Because the robot is now incomplete you also cannot use it in any battles. It's a total mess. I beta tested this game. I spoke to the developers. I reported dozens of bugs and oversights and not a single one was addressed. Why even have me on board to test the game if the developers aren't going to fix the issues? Did they just run out of time? Did they not care? I have no idea what the answer is but I did my due diligence and nothing fruitful came of it. The Robot Arena fandom waited years for this game to come out. Some of us had even given up hope. The only thing Robot Arena 3 has opened up our eyes to is the fact that there will now never be a Robot Arena 4. Thanks.
