With so many games inspired by Fire Emblem on Steam, you need something special to stand out. Whether it's graphics, fancy mechanics or an amazing story, you need a way to draw people in. So it's hard to see what Rise Eterna went for, since the game looks and feels okay, but doesn't try to innovate in any way. The art style is decent. There's nothing visually impressive about the maps that look very rudimentary, like what you'd see in older Fire Emblems, but the 14 characters are varied and well designed. They have different special combat skills, and some of them benefit from standing next to their friends in combat, for added bonuses. The story is rather classic. Themes of betrayal and alliances between kingdoms are common in these kinds of games, but it has enough twists to keep you engaged until the end. That is... If you can put up with low quality dialogues. Between weird sentences, insults being thrown left and right as well as a lot of pointless chit-chat... The game would have benefited from better writing. Scavenging is another neat part of the game, with item drops obtained from certain spots on the map, chests, or enemies. You can then craft potions, bombs, or even permanent stats buffs with the rarer materials, but they're not that useful and getting what you need always comes down to luck. Those are only minor inconveniences, and Rise Eterna could have been another satisfactory game for the genre, if it wasn't for one mechanic (or lackthereof, actually)... Because units don't retaliate during combat... And that's a major issue. It drastically reduces the strategic elements, such as placing your characters, planning ahead, blocking the enemy's path, taking advantage of ranged units... It doesn't make the game unplayable, but every fight lacks a little... something. Other shortcomings almost feel secondary in comparison : there's no leveling system, you simply get a skill point for every new map a character beats. Every mission has simplistic objectives, whether it be to kill everyone, kill the boss, or reach the exit. Deadly in the early game, the traps scattered around the maps remain obnoxiously annoying until the very end, taking up time at the start of every turn and requiring rare materials to heal from. Finally, the uneven difficulty also has to be mentioned. Really easy at the beginning, the game gets quite tricky a few missions later, until your characters become overpowered half-way through the game, making any further challenge disappear. Rise Eterna has the looks of Fire Emblem, and almost feels like it. Until you get into actual combat, and realize that neither your characters nor the enemies retaliate when they're attacked. The rest of the game is all right, but the absence of such an important mechanic affects everything else, dragging it down. An unremarkable 5. It's a shame, but I don't think Rise Eterna is really worth playing.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

No AI at all. Enemies only move/attack your units if you come within their attack range. And enemies are not grouped, so you can pull one enemy at a time. Take your sweet time sending them to their maker - 1 at a time. Did I say 1 at a time? And the maps are huge. With lots of enemies. And no time limit. Random traps scattered on random locations. Yeah. It's the only thing giving this game a "challenge". That's all that's needed for a gameplay review.
I think the game has a lot of interesting elements like it has this gathering and crafting system and the skill tree and the gem placements, but the gameplay during the actual campaign...is kind of boring. The enemies don't strike back when you attack them and they just don't give the units any pressure at all. It doesn't feel like you're strategizing nor are you in ever much danger... The premise itself sounds interesting though I guess I wish there was more insight at the beginning why Nathiel ever joined Lua, even just a hint of why. Maybe the sequel is better? I'll try the demo of that, but this game is a miss for me personally.
A Waste of Good Art Assets Straight to the bottom line here. The only thing holding this game up is the art, which is what initially drew me in to give it a chance. However, the game play is so barebones that there is virtually no strategic decision making. Damage is vanilla; nothing is strong or weak against anything else. One character stat is borderline broken if you focus on it. There are so many technical failings from the one sided attacker initiated battles, lack of fog of war, massive imbalance between player and enemy power, and enemy AI that barely does anything; its all just a disaster. Avoid this title.
I don't want to kill villagers just to have someone join my party. This sucks. Who thought it would be enjoyable or challenging to kill old limping men? Or ladies with rolling pins? What the heck!!!!! Worst Game Ever!!!
I really enjoyed this game! It was different from the normal JRPG/Tactical RPGs that I am used to playing. The story was decent enough to enjoy, the characters and their relationships were interesting, and the systems with using gems to make your characters stronger was refreshing. Not too shabby for an indie game too, however I wanted more. The ending felt kinda flat after a certain tragic event. I was hoping the story was gonna really take off after that moment, but overall I would recommend this if you want to experience something a bit different.
muito bom para fãs do genero
this is a good game. although i was upset with how the game ended it doesn't mean ill give it a bad review. sure there are traps and yes some things could have been better. but its versatile you can make the weakest character extremely strong it just takes work and time.4 out of 5 will play again. i can't wait to play 2
